Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Can't unclog black 3eBK nozzle.
If you said you replaced cartridges with new ones and it still doesn't work, the printer is the issue and may need to be replaced.
Do I need a new scanner bulb?
It sounds very much as if the scanner is faulty/failed. The warming-up phase is to ensure that the scanner lamps output is steady, making for consistent scans. Usually this is just a simple timing circuit.
Having once tried to fix a broken flatbed scanner myself, I found that obtaining the correct replacement lamp for it was impossible - I think inkjet printers and scanners are considered "consumable". You may be better off buying a new printer. Alternatively, if it keeps producing good prints, consider buying a separate scanner. HTH
Canon PIXMA MP780 - suddenly no power
Mine has the same problem. The only difference is it threw a few errors first (weird stuff like improper cartridge, etc.) and I had to unplug/replug in the power to get it to work. Now, nothing at all. Dead. I really liked this unit too! Always used brand new Canon ink. Any ideas?
Ink cartridge colour not detected
If these are BCI3 BLK
cartridges they may be old or the pigment has separated.
Shake the cartridge and hit it lightly on a towel to see if
ink comes out. If it does (I mean an amount close to the hole size) try a nozzle test.
If that does not work you may have to deep clean the head.
You may also look on the left side of the printer after opening the tray door and look for a 3 inch x 1/14 inch silver plate with two red dots on it.
take a q-tip and soak it in isopropryl alcohol and clean the dots.
These are what the printer uses to align the pages and show ink volume and identify cartridges.
