Canon DR-6080 Path-Through Scanner - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
What should i do if
Irrespective of the position the tray has to go down on powering on. There is HP (Home position) sensor for the paper tray, under the tray. Check if it is okay. Also in the middle of the paper tray, there is a paper sensor, clean this with a damp cloth so that the does not 'assume' there is paper. If the scanner has paper, it will not go down.

I have many years of experience on Canon scanners so here is my advice to you.
On that particular scanner the rollers are very critical. You have a set on the top that should be grey in color. When you open the scanner (I mean lift the top half up) you will see these grey rollers. There is a black plastic cover over them that pops off. Once the cover is off you will see a green tab, gently pull it down and slide the roller over to the side. It will drop in to your hand. I use Fantastic (or 409) and a terry cloth wash rag to clean the rollers with it will do a great job on them. Once the roller is completely clean from any residue and looks grey again then put it back in the scanner the way you took it out.
On the bottom of the scanner you will see another set of rollers they should be pinkish in color. They too have a black cover over them. This cover at times can be troublesome removing. I use a flat blade screw driver to remove it with if its the first time its been removed. you will see a small slot at the bottom of the cover stick your screw driver in there and twist it to pop the cover off. Some times the tab that holds it in place breaks but not to worry because the cover just sits there and really doesnt need that tab. Once you remove the cover then you will also see a green tab on this roller also. Gently pull it back and slide the roller to the side it will easily come out of the scanner. Once you have this roller in your hand spray it down really well with Fantastic (or 409) and again use a terry cloth wash cloth to scrub off all the residue on the roller. The roller should look as close to pinkish as possible. If you cant get it back to that pinkish color again then your probably ready for a new set of rollers both on top (the grey one) and that pinkish roller on the bottom. Your local Canon dealer I am sure will have them in stock or I'm pretty you will be able to find them on ebay they are a very common replacement item. My suggestion is to clean those rollers based on the volume of use on your scanner at minimum once every few days again depending on volume. Most companies clean them daily to get peak performance out of there scanner and once you do it once it takes less then 5 minutes to do.
I hope this helped you out and if you have any other questions let me know.
Hello I have the message
E25 is abnormalities in pickup motor. If you open the front/top cover, you can locate the motor, Pls check if the connections are okay. These motors are generally very reliable and don't fail.

I have a canon 6080 scanner. getting a error "no
Clean the two 'black dots' in the paper tray, just under the roller. They are actually paper sensors. Try 'page counting'. If this works, the scanner is okay. If the problem still persists, try reloading the scanning software.

Canon dr 6080 scanner is getting papers but i dont
What scanning software are you using? Once you initiate scan command, the software will ask for location (and format) where you want to save the files. After scanning, try & use 'Save as' command, by default it will go to where it is already saved. Alternatively, search for the file name under Windows.

Dr6080 paper tray does not raise up. computer says
Use Qumatool and check if tray is lifting. If it is lifting, then Tray lifting motor is okay, then you need to adjust the sensor just under the Document lifting tray. If it not lifting, then you may have to change the motor.
(Just now saw yr note and replying, hope it is not tooooo late!)

Paper tray some times paper are not passong
if you're using bargain paper try upgrading paper quality, it will feed more reliably! or try tapping the edges of your paper 'stack' on a flat surface and inserting it firmly into the feed slot - don't 'slam' it in!
good luck! (make sure the paper is inserted evenly)
Dr 6080 4401 error code
Wht happens after the comp displays 4401 error? Does the system hang? If you can still use the comp, then forget it. Frankly I have not faced this error. But freak errors like these can be seen even if your OS files are damaged. Try reinstalling the OS in another partition. If the scanner works fine in the new environemnt, you can be sure that some files are damaged.

How to get rid of a black strip (1") on the leading edge of scanned documents?
You must be using Auto contrast/brightness. Change to manual, try one or two scans changing the brightness tab moving left or right and choose desire output quality. Remember the settings for that set of documents. The brightness will vary depending upon data (foreground) and noise (background). For a different set of docs you may need to adjust the settings slightly.

DR-6080 Scanner runs slow
What port are you using? May be you are using usb1.0 port. Use USB 2.0 port. Sometimes Changing USB cable would do the trick! Try SCSI if you have a card and SCSI cable, but this adds to the cost. All new comps come with USB 2.0. I had similar problem with 9080C and on changing to USB 2.0, it worked fine. Don't use USB & SCSI simultaneously.

Hi, i have a Canon dr 9050c scanner. I have the
It sounds like you diagnosed it.
The tray "paper detect sensor" thinks it has paper in it, and if it doesn't have paper in it...there's a problem with the sensor.
Take the tray off and inspect the sensor. Blow out around the sensor and it's PCB and make sure it is not out of position. Check the sensor lens for anything blocking it, and retest. If it still shows always on, then replace the sensor. Press the "count only" button to illuminate it, and press the "start" button. If the scanner works properly (tray lifts, pulls paper through the scanner, and counts it)...well then you have software or connectivity issue.
Hope that helps,
