1) The AC adapter should ALWAYS be plugged into the laptop FIRST, then plugged into AC power. If not, this could create a voltage spike.2) Let's look at the DC Power Jack, for the Compaq Presario M2000 series of Notebook PC's,http://www.notebookparts.com/products/description.php?II=9741The DC Power Jack is mounted to a removable circuit board.Enlarging the view of the jack, shows us there is an Inductor.The small 'can' standing up on the power board. This chipset could have gone south. (Bad)How to know? Replace it, or dig out your dual trace oscilloscope. See if the Inductor works.Could also just be cracked solder joints, of the DC Power Jack, TO that small circuit board. Solution would be to resolder it/them.[ I WOULD however, search for a BETTER price, than listed in the link above, IF available ]DC Power Jack is in good shape, soldered tight to the motherboard, and ruled out as the problem?(Since you know the AC adapter is good)Then the problem would be the Inductor on that power board, or power correcting chipset.What one is it? The wireless switch is located on the side or front of the laptop.Once you have the switch turned on you can also use keystrokes to toggle the wireless on or off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key located at the bottom left of the keyboard then hit the correct key (F1 thru F12) that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have the wireless signal icon )))) or it will have the icon of a tower with the wireless signal icon )))). When you toggle the wireless it will display on the screen Wireless On or Wireless Off.

Hello pse try to connect an ordinary screen to your computer and see if you have the same problem then...use both screens at the same time ...and see if your lcd is the same or not...please tell me how it went...good luck...be hearing from you...Ron

The DC jack in the laptop is often source of trouble, but the computer must be dismantled down to the motherboard level, at this point I recommend a professional to assess the repair cost.

i did have the same problem with no audio driver after intalled my m2000 too- but after i did make a online update of the driver install - the computer did find it and did install it automatic.and now it works perfect.

The LCD screen will need to be replaced and is a job for a professional.
