Is this a laptop?

If so, you may have to reinstall the driver for the Function keys to work. This driver can be found with the System recovery disks that came with the laptop.


If this is a desktop, then you will have to install the driver that came with you particular keyboard in order to use the function keys.

It sounds like what you've done was reformat your system, rather than reboot. Is that right?
What you are actually missing is not the cards but the drivers to make them operable. I'm not real familiar with 2000, but here's an excellent tutorial for updating drivers that will help guide you through the process. Here's a link to the HP page that has all the original drivers for your windows 2000 system, and here's another link to the xp drivers. You should probably choose one OS or the other, rather than trying to install 2 of them. Your system will run better for it...You can download them from antother internet connected computer and burn the download to a cd if you have'nt internet access from your system at the moment.

You might save yourself a lot of time updating windows if you consult articles here nad here.

Select your operating system on the first page. On the second page scroll down to audio drivers and download it to your desktop (so you can find it) double click on the icon to start the install.
follow the prompts and restart the computer if asked..

Go into the device manager and see if there is a any sound devices installed. If there isn't then let me know the sound card you have in your system and what operating system you have installed as well so we can get you a drive for it.

When a computer does not restart or turn off using the operative system shut dow commands , but you have to hold the start button to force the computer off, that means that the operative system is corrupted.

If you want to fix the problem you will have to do a full backup of your data on an external storage, and then reinstall the operative system (eg. reinstall windows).

You need 2 install the video driver as well.... I tried visiting CREATIVE'S website but u didn't provided the exact make otherwise the issue would have been solved even easily...

This laptop comes in many different types. If you follow this link, you should be able to choose your specific laptop from the list, and then choose your drivers.

However, if it does not provide you with drivers, you may repost with your specific model number and we can look again...
