Look at the instruction/installation manual.
Are the bulbs 12volts or 120vac? If it is 12v there is a transformer that might be shorting to ground. If no transformer, the control panel or the control board has a short.

The steel mesh panels are the filters, can be hard to clean if not done regulary. You can put them in the top rack of your dishwasher but you shouldn`t use detergent as it can change the colour of them. The other option is just to wash them in dishwash detergent in the sink, can be a bit awkward and if not done regulary, a bit hard to get completely clean. I tend to soak them for a while, wash them and then run really hot water through them. Hope this helps.

Wiring problem
Yes just like damic says,
But dont forget to add a fused switch one as well.
You'll be glad you did.
What i did was..from the hood, i did a channel into the wall (with plastic conduit).. to go left then followed it down to make it flush.
(so i could put the cupboard back on)
Plastered then tiled up the area as well as added the extra plug.
It'll run sraight off the mains.

Baumatic hood bt82.1 lamps blown..
Hi johnnyi6,
I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.
Your problem is: had a crackling noise then pop..looks like transformer has blown, replaced
but still no lights ..fan o.k...don't appear to be getting any power to transformer via switch?...how do you get push button switch out?...
bypassed light switch and lights o.k with new transformer..any ideas..
Yes, I agree, the switch went bad. It snaps in so you will break it during removal. I recomend you get the replacement switch first so you don't have a wire hanging out while you wait for the new one.
Feel free contact me again!
Please give me a rating here at fixya.com before you sign off
Thank you,

These units have a history of fan failure due to inferior 220 volt Italian fan.
I have just had fan fail and retrofitted a ebmpapst blower fan model D2E146HT6702 which is readily available in Aus for around $120.
The fan speed control is by inverter variable output so you don't use all the speed select wires that this fan has. Connect the Red wire on the range hood to the Black on the motor (High speed winding) and the Black on the range hood to the Blue on the motor (Neutral) and the earth to the earth (Green).
Disconnect and toss the cap in the white enclosure under the PC board enclosure (the new fan has the cap on board). Don't know how easy to fit in the range hood as mine is in an acoustic fan housing in the roof (makes it wisper quiet when running)

The extractor on my Baumatic
Sounds like it was the main fan motor - that caused the lights to blow in the first place.
Isolate from supply, and get the fan motor checked out. If it is burnt out (inside) you will need a replacement.
Hope this helps.

F90 st.steel hood fan problem
kerry, does it make any difference if you hold that button or not? If so, the switch set could be bad. Any odd noise from the motor? The motor might be bad. Power off. Then, remove the filter and try to turn the motor by hand. If it turns hard, it's the motor. Easy, then replace the switch. Check the electrical connections to the unit. There should be a box somewhere inside the housing. It is possible that wires have come loose. Again, do this part with the power off.

Light blown then fan doesn't work!
take out switch assemby and check if the track of the pcb is blown - caused by the bulb goiung. you can often repair by soldering in wire links. bet you have 12a fuse in system - should be 3a. track has blown instead of the fuse
