Did have the same problem, but I was able to find a support link, which D-Link's support for Australia and New Zealand.

You can try, but if it doesn't work, install the driver using the CD. If the CD isn't available, you can Google search for it.

Only on windows 8 32 bits only NOT 64 bits. Download & use the windows 7 32bits driver.

Typically visit 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in your web browser..

If neither page brings up anything, Press the windows key on your keyboard, hold it and press R (the win key is between ctrl and alt and has a flag on it), In the run menu, Type cmd and then click OK
it will pop up a dos style box, In that box type ipconfig /all and press enter..

The following dialogue will tell you the routers ip (assuming your connected to it and your network card is obtaining from it) The routers ip should be listed under the Gateway or DNS server.
Type that number ex: 192.168.2.1 into your web browser if the above numbers did not work.

The d-link will have a web based configuration page on it.

If it asks for a username and password the default for dlink are usually

If the modem is obsolete, why don't you just upgrade to a newer modem? It is seriously not that expensive with the modem market these days.

Check the your modem ip,
May be both are the same, that why it is not working.

FYI, Win7 64bit not supported for MANY software and hardware. I checked with D-link site and they didn't provide driver for Win7. So, either you downgrade your OS back or wait for the driver from D-link
