When using wireless lan with PPC, there are some experience shere with you. 1. You must do an "Reset" after the first time of installing wireless driver into your DELL AXIM. Otherwise, the driver would not work. 2. Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 only can allow one source to access the internet. It can't access internet via the USB and wireless at the same time. Thus, it is more batter way to leave your AXIM alone instead of insert on cradle when you try to access internet via wireless lan. 3. Some of the wireless's CE driver are based on StrongArm, 206MHz, not PXA250, 400MHz. It will got problem when the wireless try to initiate the link between base station and PPC. Try the following step: (i) Make sure you have been install the wireless driver. (ii) Remove your wireless from CF slot. (iii) start->setting->power->processor select "PowerSave" mode and apply it. (iv) Plug wireless into CF slot (v) If you can get an dynamic IP or access internet, you can repet step 3, but select "Auto" mode. Hoping these information can solve your problem.

Don't know about that software specifically, but of those 3 choices, try the Compaq. The Axim's processor is backwards compatible with the one in the Compaq. (Well, it's the same as the one in the LATEST model HP, but usually when you see those three choices, it's to signify the 3 different processors each had. HP's latest model used the same as the Compaq, but their older models didn't..) Hopefully they aren't checking for specific devices, but just processor type.. Now, there is some software that is written specifically for the Compaq Ipaq because of it's video chipset, but not much.. (Tomb Raider comes to mind)..

I would suggest that you start with a soft reset. If that does not work, then you may need to try a hard reset.

The screen is 320 x 240 You have the lower border and upper board which say maybe 10 pixels each. Take the 320-(10x2) borders and you will have 'about' 300 x 200 for a 'full' picture/backdrop.

Go to Start Settings System Power Control Uncheck (On external power) or set it to what ever mins you want

You say that your Settings; sounds and notifications, are all checked off, and volume slider is turned up. If you still don't have any sound from your speaker, plug in in your earphones and see if you hear anything. If so, you have a bad speaker or device problem. If you still don't hear anything with headphones, then ditto. Contact Tech Support for exchange.

Find the file on your Axim, use the sylus and hold it down on the file name, a little red circle of dots will form around the file and bring up a menu for that file (kinda like right clicking on a file on your desktop PC), you can then delete it from there.

You may want to use the Task Switcher that you can start by going to Settings/System. When you click on Task Switcher, you will see all of the open programs. If you have a large number of open programs then you may see a degredation in performance. You may also have a single application that is causing problems. If a soft reset cures the problem, then it is not a hardware problem.

After doing a soft reset to enable Clear Type, I tried a backup of all data and everything worked! Nor Backup Failure Message and the backup file can be seen on the CF card.

Did you try to set the Backlight on in the control panel? (settings>system>brightness) The brightness is often automatically set to 0. If you did this already and it still doesn't work, probably try an email.

I have tried to initiate the partnership using Activesync with my new Axim on three different laptops, three different versions of windows operating systems including 2K. I've spent hours on the hold for support and have been very disappointed with the level of training on this product. Obviously, we are not the only customers have problems with the usb connection but if you call the help desk, they act like it's a surprise to them. I have downloaded the usb patch and that does not correct the problem. I've been told by the support staff that I will have to upgrade to XP. Well that's just great. I need to spend $99 to upgrade my laptop to use a $200 pda. There are posting from XP users having the same problem so I'm not inclined to run right out to Best Buy! If I don't get a resolution fast, my Axim is being returned to Dell.

You are going to have to use a SD reader/writer to transfer the files from your PC to the SD card and then you can use it that way.

The manual says the buttons Launch [App Name], or turn on the device.

The reason CF COULD be faster is that it is a parallel connection (16bit IIRC) while SD/MMC is serial in nature. Now, assuming the INTERFACE were the limiting factor in the speed this could become significant. Unfortunately the interface is NOT the limit (in most cases), the limit is the actual fetching of data from the memory itself. Being Flash it is nowhere near as fast as some of the other types of memory we are used to. It is especially slow when being written to. Newer cards out there are faster then older ones, but in the end I doubt you would notice much if any difference between the speed of a CF versus an SD/MMC card

Try disconnecting your Axim from your PC, then open ActiveSync on your PC, and delete the partnership. Next, reconnect your Axim X5, and go through the connection wizard again, and create a new partnership.

It does NOT have integrated WiFi, you will have to buy a compact-flash card, the Linksys WCF12 works perfectly in mine.

They will work. The only difference is the number of pins.

I would guess your light should dim after 5 minutes. But I bet your axim wont shut off for 2,3, or 4 hours. My battery is wonderful so I have it shutting off after 2 hours.

This sounds like an issue with your desktop. Something has got corrupted maybe. Try going to the cd driectly to install a program. It only needs internet explorer when it runs the menu for the cd. It can all be installed by finding the setup for the particualr program your installing. Might need to reinstall internet explorer on your desktop and if that doesn't help, I hate to say it but might need to reinstall windows on it. Are you using ME or XP? I had many problems with kernel32.dll errors with ME but have not had any problems at all with XP. Only way I ever fixed those errors with ME was to reinstall. ME was the least stable version of windows.

You don't really need for it to. You can go to setting on your Axim, then to connections, and use the avant go connection, to connect, and synch with avant go that way. You can synch to avant go that way, with any internet connection. If it's connected to active synch as a guest then you can't synch with active synch also.
