Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC Questions & Answers
Internet connection
For x5, you will need either cf wifi card or sd wifi card. If wifi network hotspot is free and internet access is allowed (check with your college's network administrator for information), all you need is be in the range, turn the wifi on and connect to it (there maybe several security settings you have to do on the axim and these can also be obtained from network admin). For paid hotspot, you will be redirected to enter username and password when you ty to access internet.
Dell battery terminals
The main terminal in the centre, which is labelled dell is the 5 way navigation button. And the small button which is to the immediate left of the navigation button is the four application button. and to the bottom right is the audio speaker. The button which is on the top of the device is the back-lit power button. Its charge status will be displayed. And now coming to the backside, above the battery slot cover is the main battery lock. Slide and hold the lock to unlock the position and remove the battery using the stylus. Stylus is located towards the side of the device. It can be used to go to the location where you want to go or you can type or write notes. now, on the other side( the side opposite to which stylus is present) secure digital card slot, scroll dial, voice record button and reset button are present. These are the functions of the terminalsHope this helped you :)Now start using the battery.

Can't install drivers for WIFI card
I purchased a VeriFone 11 Mbps 802.11b Wireless Compact Flash Adapter card for my Axim X5. I put the disc and the wifi card in my laptop and I can get on the internet. But can't seem to get it going in the Axim. It always reads "Unrecognized Card". Tried ActiveSynce and putting the drivers on a different Flash card. No luck..
Dell axim x5 back-up battery
It is a knows issue for the backup battery not to take charge once they reache 0%. The backup battery is a pretty crappy NiCD cell. As the job it is supposed to do is pretty important I recomand to have it changed. For most PDA's this is a standard 3V battery. You should have your pda dissasembled and either have the battery manually charged (to see if the PDA can handle it later) or simply have it changed. This shouldn't be an expensive repair. For more info, feel free to reply. Good luck.
The align screen function won't
I had the same problem and I got it to work by placing a paper just above the Dell button and the touch screen. There seem to be some part of the metal cover that shorts out the touch screen and causes that problem. Some other people have recomended taking the unit apart and placing electrical tape in that area. Hope this works for you. Good luck.
Getting past the 'Align Screen'
Had the same problem starting about 3 months ago with my Axim X5. Couldn't get the touchscreen to respond in order to input my password. However when I sync it to my computer I had better success at getting the touchscreen to work and respond.
Tried the business card tip of sliding it between the touchscreen and metal cover/frame of the PDA and now it seems to work even better. Great tip. Hope it becomes the more permanent fix for getting my PDA touchscreen to respond.
Mack
All I get from my
take a credit card or bisiness card and slide it in between the edges of the screen gently this should fix the problem if not open it and clean the touchscreen contacts
