I have a dell 2400 an it will not come on but the

If you turn it on and there is no sound of a fan running or the hard drive spinning up, then you will be needing a new power supply.
If you hear the fans running but there is no signal on the monitor, you might have a different hardware problem. In that case, open the case and remove all of the connections to the hard drive and CD. Leave only the cpu and memory connected. Then try to start it.
If you have no luck, try to use a different monitor.
If still no luck your motherboard is bad or the CPU is bad.

I have a dell dimension 2300 desktop and as soon

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes Pc

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it

How to remove the cpu fan cover

on my 2600, the cover just lifts off the heatsink, and the fan is attached with stretchy rubber things that allow you to just pull it off. What are you trying to do?

How to map usb ports USB1, 2, etc.

You don't map the Universal Serial Buss. You just hook all the devices to the connection points (ports). The computer find them by device, MAC address, etc., not by port number. You can hook up to 127 devices to a computer, and the computer will talk to all of them regardless the physical point of connection. That's the reason, you can buy USB hubs with 4 or more connection points that plug into an USB port (how do you map that?).
USB1 - 6 is for you to know how many devices are connected to the computer via USB at a certain time.
So if your printer is configured for USB1, what ever port you plug that printer in, will be USB1.

Do i need a recovery **** to restore a Dell Dimension 2300?

Dell didn't create a recovery partition on your computer back than, if that's what you're asking. My 2300 came with a Dell recovery cd. You might be able to get one from Dell.
Or you can create a slipstreamed sp3 installation cd if you need to reinstall the OS and you have the Windows discs. You can get the original driver files from the Dell website.
But why are you trying to restore it? Have you got some malware on the system, or what?
By pressing F8 at startup, you get the advanced startup options screen, which allows you to boot into last known good configuration.
If that doesn't work, you could try starting in safe mode, and then use the system restore command from Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore to restore the system back to a previous date when it was working.
Give us a few more details about your situation and we'll be happy to help you sort it out...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Need to replace the hard drive

Very easy to do. You will need an antistatic wrist strap. Unscrew the screw/thumb screws on the side of the case which slides off. slide the case door off, connect your anti static wrist strap to you and a metal part of the case, to ensure you are grounded and don't fry any parts. Check what sort of hard disk your motherboard supports, it could be IDE or Sata. Older ones use IDE. Get a hard disc to match and plug it in where your old hard drive was. The hard drive is probably held in by clips or screws. remove them and place the new hard drive in the hard drive bays. Wire it up. You will need to install an operating system on your new hard drive. This can be done by getting a windows boot cd, entering the bios on startup by hitting the delete or f12 key/ the specified key. Then in the bios go to boot device priority set it to CD. Then reboot and it will install it on your new hard drive. Hope that helps.

Where do I get a dvd drive for the Dell dimension

The dell dimension takes a standard DVD drive, CDRW or DVD writer. Simply go to your local superstore and buy one thats on sale. Buy one that goes internal not external. For example a place like Best Buy has several.

Dell dimension L800CXE

Hello Wademyd,
It seems that the installation CD that you have is not a bootable CD.. must be old one.
Please down load the boot disk for windows from http://www.bootdisk.com or follow the Microsoft article link given below:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310994
Do not be intimidated by the article, although it looks big but there is very little that you need to do, rest of it is general instructions like where can you order a new CD from etc...
OR
Simple solution is to borrow Bootable Windows XP installation disk and install it using the serial Key that has been given to you.

Please let me know if that helps and please rate the solution if it helped you.. it will not cost you anything but will make a difference for me :)

All the best and kindly let me know in case you need any further assistance.

Regards,
Srinivas

Everytime i restart it pops up

this hibopiro.dll is a registry entry that is starting a trojan or spyware that you may have deleted from your computer at some point.
if you have regcure you can run it and see if it gets rid of the reference to the .dll file.
if you install hijackthis and run it and look for this reference.
I would be careful about using regedit unless you know how.
but you can go to the hijackthis website and have someone look at your results for free and they will tell you what to do with their findings.

If this helps you please leave a vote in fixya

I put in a 512MB PC-133 memory stick and all my pc does is beep 3 times when I turn it on

1). Changed ram is of high frequency so its not supporting ur motherboard, change the ram and see to its frequency (eg. pc100, pc133)
2). Or you might have wrongly attached the ram to motherboard, so ram slot might have burnt.

I have a dell dimension 2300 that turns on, but

I've run into the problem several times and it can be both.Your best bet would be to try the power supply first, being the cheaper and easier of the two. If you have another desktop you could try swapping the power supplies to test (make note of which plug goes where, it's fairly simple as long as you pay attention).

If you don't have a spare then it's possible a local tech store would have one you can purchase or pay them a small fee to test for you.

If swapping them doesn't work then it points at the motherboard.

Hope this helps :)
