What Is The Bigger Hard
It looks like this computer only supports IDE hard drives.
The larget drives are all SATA hard drives. You can get a host card like this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816102065 which will give you some SATA ports. Make sure you have a free PCI slot.
There's a limitation with current operating systems that won't let you have a boot drive be larger than 2.2TB. I wouldn't recommend getting a drive larger than 2TB for that reason.
Good luck.
My 2300 don't started. Keep running the windows

Computer runs for 2 - 3 minutes then powers off
You most likely have a heat related issue. Try removing the cover and checking the inside of your system. If it looks like a haunted house in there, then grab a can of compressed air and start some spring cleaning. Enough dust can accumulate in your system to preven the heat dissipation points to work correctly. Anything past this would warrant a service call from a local tech in order to replace broken fans and or heat sinks.

If however you need to re-install windows with a normal windows disc, everything will be lost and you will need the drivers for your motherboard and other equipment.
If you are doing a factory restore/recovery then you will loose everything, but all your drivers and programs that where on your computer when new will be there.
Feel free to ask if anything is not clear, or you need more information

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

Computer wants a boot disk. It was donated to our
It sounds like the person who donated the PC wiped the HD clean, so that none of their previous data can be taken from the old HD.
And when they re-installed an operating system, they did not complete the installation. This means you must contact that person, find out which OS they installed on the HD, and get the boot diskette from that person.
The alternative is to have them do a full install of an OS, or you do it yourself. But you must use an OS for which you have a license.
Otherwise, you will have error messages pop up every step of the way, and you won't be able to use the PC without error messages every step of the way.

Computer is very slow
Try defraging.
If your willing to spend money
get more RAM it worked for me, ask someone or look it up, about how
much ram your computer can "handle" and buy the RAM stick according to
your pc max capacity
No, in almost all cases upgrading your computer wil only make it run
slower. If you want to improve the computers speed there a couple
things you can do. 1) Run spyware/virus scans, 2) Add RAM to increase
computer speed, 3) Defrag
Software Critics says,
Try these--Highly Effective Ways to Optimize PC Speed made simple
Solution: 1: Create restore point and take registry backup.
2: Delete all temp files.
3: Delete all unwanted software's and security software's from add/remove program.
4: Disable all unwanted services from startup and then remove from registry.
5: Reset internet explorer and then register all .dll files.
6: Scan with spyware removal malwarebyte, hijackthis and Trojan removal.
7: Check windows update if found and then download and install.
8: Defrag C: drive
9: Restart the computer, and then check it.
A big NO NO: It's not recommended to edit registry before upgrading a
PC or even making a slow PC faster as some registry cleaners can scrape
out old registry entries of which some may be necessary to keep some
programs running! And avoid websites trying to sell you something
unnecessary.
