Boot problem on inspiron 1150

Try connecting it to an external monitor. When you do, as soon as you press the power button to turn on the laptop, close the laptop lid - as this forces the laptop to display on an external monitor. If this works, then it means the laptop screen is bad. If it doesn't, the most likely cause would be that the laptop video card went bad. For a while, some older Dell laptops with high-end nVidia graphics cards tended to die suddenly.

How do I adjust brightness on my Dell Latitude D6...

Look for a key labeled "Fn" (blue lettering) on the lower left side of the keyboard

Hold the "Fn" key and then use the Up/Down arrows to adjust brightness.

If that doesn't work, reboot your laptop and get into the BIOS. There is a screen for brightness. I don't recall how it is labeled, but it's one of the last pages as you cycle through the BIOS options.

From the keyboard how can i adjust dell latitude D 600 brightness

Hold down the Fn key and press the up arrow several times until it tops out. By default, if you are running on battery power, it dims the display to conserve power.

First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. No audio from my dell

First thing to check is to see if sound is muted. Very common on Dell laptop's. Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar (lower right corner of screen) and see if the box to mute is checked. If it is remove the check mark and try the sound now. The other thing is to see if the driver is properly loaded for your sound chip on the motherboard. Go to the Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager and see if the sound device has a yellow exclamation point or a red X. If so then the driver for the sound is not loaded. There are several ways to handle, but while you are in the device page click on the sound device if there and there will be an option to remove the driver or update the driver or install the driver. Select install the driver to see if it is on your system. If it is then the system will find it and install it for you. Last to get the driver go here. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_1150&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

My 1150 dell inspiron laptop

Disconnect the battery, unplug it, then open it up. There should be a small round battery called the CMOS battery somewhere in there. Pull that out. Then plug your computer in and boot it up without the CMOS battery. It should say password disabled. Turn it off, disconnect it, put it back together, and you're good to go.

I turn on power and

Hello,
This is likely to be as a result of your processor over-heating, maybe because of your environment, possibly because the air-vent is blocked, or because the fan is not cooling the processor properly again.
Therefore my suggestion would be for you to unscrew your laptop (If you can do it by yourself), and try to clean, or better still replace your processor fan.
Also clean the air-vent where air is supposed to enter the laptop If you cant do it by yourself, you can easily get a technician to do it for you.
Also, remove all your RAM(Memory Sticks), and clean the tip of the connector with an eraser, and re-insert it one after the other.
That is, if you have two of them, after you insert the first one, put on your system and see if it works, then do the same thing with the other one.
If the two of them works, them insert the them all. but if it is just one that worked, just remove the other one that is not working and replace it.
If the two of them are not working, then try to get a RAM of the same type to test it with, either from a friend or a technician.
I have actually had the same case before, and after doing what I've just told you, it stopped behaving like that.
Then always make sure that your laptop is in a well ventilated, cool environment and that the environment is free from dusts.
Kindly let me know how it goes after you've tried this.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck and thanks for using fixya!

Hi

Update the driver for your wireless network interface. Right-click on My Computer, left-click on Manage, and then go to Device Manager on the left pane of the new window. Find your network interface on the list and try to find out information about the device there (brand, driver, etc.) You'll need to use another computer to download the driver if you can't connect .
