Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I need window vista home basic product key
If you purchased the laptop with vista on it, the key should be on the underneath of it's case. If you are upgrading, when you buy the product, it comes with a product key. If you are upgrading, why not try windows 7 which is quicker, more stable and less memory hungry.
Kind regards
Dell PP29L pwers on but screen remains black
If all the answers above do not work, it is possible that your video chip is failing. Laptop video chips are embedded in the motherboard. Over time, too much heat becomes an issue and begins to warp the chip and it begins to lift up slightly from the motherboard creating issues with blank screens when powered up. I've had the same problem with several laptops brought to me for repairs and 90% of the time it was the video chip. For this problem you may need to replace the motherboard with the same exact motherboard which you can find on ebay fairly cheap, and then if you don't feel too comfortable opening your laptop take it to a computer repair place and have it replaced.

A couple things can cause this to happen....
1. While you're typing, your hand or thumb might be hitting the mouse area near the keyboard which causes the mouse to move around.
2. You could have some heavy resource program running in the background which slows the system down.
3. You have an infrared mouse without a proper mouse pad so the infrared causes the light to bounce around causing issues.
4. A virus :(
DELL INSPIRON WONT START UP
Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

My DELL Insiron is not charging
Hello, If the battery won't charge and the laptop won't turn on but the ac adapter works with other laptops, then the problem is the port where you plugin the ac adapter. Some of the laptops has it built in to the motherboard. So you might need to have it repaired by a technician. Or if the laptop is still in warranty, you might need to send it to the manufacturer to have it repaired or replaced. But if the laptop works without the battery, or it will turn on but the battery indicator is not lighting up, you're facing one of these problems. 1. The battery itself is dead. 2. the battery bay is loose 3. the battery itself is loose Hope this helps...

Sounds like your screen resolution it way to low. Right click on an empty spot on the desktop and go to properties in the drop down menu. Then select the settings tab and raise your resolution to at least 800x600 32bit. 1024x768 32bit may be better. Good Luck
