i just fixed the problem .. you have to reset the protection counter FIRST .. then do the reset using the triangle and colour buttons.. this it the link for the SSC utiliity to reset the counter www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml .. my printer works fine again

hi can anyone show me how to get thing apart starting from the top! Or is there a workshop manual anywhere for free? Yes i know i can get one if i pay! I have found a sscservervise prog for free and it looks good but i cant get the thing apart?
You do not need to dismantle the printer for resetting or ink pad replacement.
Please go to my website http://www.the-inkstore.co.uk . I have the latest version of SSC Service Utility to download directly onto your computer and instructions on how to use it, what to click on etc etc. Click any of the Epson links if you can't find it, everything you need to know will be there, including printer Firmware resetting which sorts out a multitude of problems.
The 'maintenance required' problem with Epson printers has absolutely nothing to do with which cartridges you are using, it is a built in page counter in your printer firmware, which has a different maximum amount for each Epson model. Don't listen to old wives tales and heresay, we are the experts and it's an Epson scam to cause a lot of people to pay for maintenance or throw their printers away.
I haven't found a model that can't be reset with the latest version of SSC Serve or the manual reset on my site.
For Epson RX500 users there is also a manual reset on my site, as the SSC Serve software won't do it for you.
When using the program & choosing your printer from the list, it may have a weird name with 'x' in the model number, this is because some configurations are for many models in a series. For example, the C46 will be listed as C4x as it is for the C42, C44 & C46 models.
I hope this helps all Epson users to overcome the Epson scam of page counting and locking out until you pay their dealers money for maintenance.

This is a re-post of a continuing problem, sorry to "go on"! I'm using Vista on one computer and Ubuntu/Linux with Wine on another.
Have tried using SSC Service Utility to try solving this but although the utility downloads OK I can?t get it to work. On Ink Monitor/Printer Report/Refresh I get Error "This function isn't supported in current printer state". On Configuration with Installed Printer as CX3200 and Printer Model as CX3100/3200 The box for disabling Epson Status Agent (which I read should be disabled before running SSC) is greyed-out. On the Resetter tab whatever I try I either get "Priviledged Instruction" or a continuous "Please Wait" screen, which it's not possible to cancel.
Thanks to Tom Tinker for the SSC link and to Inky for the link to his Rescue Kit (which I haven't downloaded, YET, as I'm not sure it addresses the error which is displaying on my CX3200 namely "Printer Error...........See your documentation and call service if necessary".
I really would like to be able to use this printer again, not least because I have a stock of ink cartridges for it! Can anyone help me please?

i used this software "indoreset cx5500" for my printer "cx4300" it did work, but the movement of this printer is like an other printer and i cant print with it and all this because of the wrong firmware and data
i need help pls ,,,,,,,,, anyone can fix this ?? i want a real cx4300 software.

2 red lights on too. What can I do to solve this? Operation guide suggests that it needs a service. I'd rather fix it myself.

no manual - cannot get th cartridges to stop in a place wher I can remove them
Ive just pressed the 'stop' button on mine and it moved the cartridge to show which ink needed replacing and then when pressed again it moved to the replacement gap

one of the colour inks is empty and because of this printer dont wants print in black.I chosed option print in black only but still printer prompt that one of the colour inks is empty and cant continue printing! please help printer is epson sx200
Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.
