Epson Stylus CX6400 All-In-One InkJet Printer - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Epson Stylus CX6400 All-In-One InkJet
try doing 4 head cleans and then leave the printer powered up over night. Don't print or anything else after the head cleans until the morning then do one more head clean (this soaks the print head in ink overnight and then the final head clean should clear any obstruction. If the printer still refuses to print in colour, you could try replacing the cartridges anyway as they can be faulty. The only problem is thaty sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new priner. (how silly is that!) By the way, are you using compats or epson original ink carts?

WHEN PRINTING PHOTOS LINES APPEAR
Hi, It is unfortunate that you are having this difficulty with your printer. One of the best solution that we can give to you is run a series of head cleaning. Please try the following steps below to clean the print head in most effective way:
1) Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing. Make sure there are no error lights or messages appearing in the LCD.
NOTE: You cannot clean the print head if the any of the cartridges are expended. Replace the appropriate ink cartridge before proceeding.
2) Load letter size paper.
3) Click on START.
For Windows 95/98/ME: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PROPERTIES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.
For Windows 2000: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.
For Windows XP: Click CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES. RIGHT-CLICK your EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. If this icon is not showing, select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS. Then RIGHT-CLICK the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.
For Windows Vista: Click CONTROL PANEL, HARDWARE AND SOUND then PRINTERS. Note: these steps may vary depending on how Vista is setup. RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.
4) Click on the UTILITY or MAINTENANCE tab, then click on HEAD CLEANING.
5) Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which time the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing, unless the printer has not moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.
6) When the power light stops flashing click PRINT NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN and then click NEXT.
7) If the nozzle check pattern has no gaps in its lines, click FINISH. If the pattern has any gaps, click CLEAN to clean the printhead again.
8) If the situation continues after three cleaning cycles and nozzle checks, replace one of the affected ink cartridge(s).
9) Once the cartridge(s) has been replaced, please follow steps one through seven up to three times.
If the nozzle check still has gaps after you have run at least 3 consecutive cleaning cycles and replaced the affected ink, your printer will require service.

How do i change the ink cartridge on my epson cx6400?
I am assuming that you already have a replacement ink cartridge.
- Make sure the printer is on.
- If the LCD screen says that your ink cartridge is empty than
you can simply press the Color button (the button looks sorta like a diamond with a line in the middle of it).
- If you wanna change the ink cartridge but the printer does not say that it is empty then
press the setup button, then press the top left button until Replace ink is displayed. Finally, press the Color button.
- Lift up the scanner section
- Wait for ink cartridge holder to move to replacement position then open its cover.
- Identify which cartridge you want to replace. Press in the tab to release the cartridge, then lift straight out.
- Before unwrapping the new cartridge, shake it gently four times. Then remove from wrapper.
- Lower new cartridge into holder, press down firmly until clicks.
- Close cartridge cover
- Carefully lower the scanner section and press it down until it clicks

Print quality
Select control panel and then printers. Pick out your printer and right click it. Go to printer preferences and select a setting that is for text and documents or photo. Also if you see an advanced button in your preferences open it and set the quality setting to "fine". Let me know if it works.
Color printing problem
it is because of the clogged nozzles of other colours.even sometimes cleaning the head does not solve the problem.the nozzle needs to be cleaned by servicing it manually by a proper technician.thanks.
Printer prints blank pages
I have the same problem, I am told the print head is clogged. there is several products on the market for cleaning them, but none of them seem to work for everyone. including mine.
I found a website selling new print heads for it, but its the same price as the printer was.
I'm throwing it out and buying a HP. which I should have in the first place.
My epson dx6400 printer
Mine had a tiny piece of the carriage that holds the ink snap off. A little squiggly part. They said it was repairable, $57 for the part, $65 or more for the repair, and $70 to ship back and forth! SAD ME! I must buy a new one! Anyone want to buy a bunch of cartridges cheap????
I wonder if there is any way to by-pass the printer and use just the scanner or just the camera cartridge reader??
What a waste!!!
Candy
Does not print
The CX series printers use a pigment based ink, and if it dries it frms a semi hard gooy substance on the printer ink input pins.
Sometimes after the insertion of new cartridges (Ensuring the yello tab is removed) and letting them sit overnight (to soften the ink blob) and running several cleaning cycles can unblock the ink "jam". Note: Epsons printer head need ink to cool them when printing (Sort of like oil in a car) so don;t try to print withot having ink flowing to the heads. It can also ruin the print head by overheating.
If all else fails there are several companies that sell inkjet cleaning solution. You may need a couple of cartridges to flush blocked jets but if will most likey work if the print head is still functional.
Otherwise, the technican is correct, you may need to purchase a new printer.
Note; For the future... Never let the ink run out of any cartridge without immediately replacing the cartridge. Never remove an empty cartridge without replacing it immediately.
Epson cx6400 ink problem
The ink nozzle may be clogged. You may be using refill ink not from the original epson ink. Try cleaning the nozzle assembly or the printer may not be usable.
