Cleaning head and nozzles

Cleaning the Print Head

r_bullet.gifUsing the Head Cleaning utilityr_bullet.gifUsing the control panel buttons

If you find that the printout is unexpectedly faint or some dots are missing, you may be able to solve these problems by cleaning the print head, which ensures that the nozzles are delivering ink properly.

You can clean the print head from your computer using the Head Cleaning utility in the printer software or from this product itself by using the control panel buttons.

r_note.gifNote:r_space.gif

  • Print head cleaning uses both color and black inks. To avoid wasting ink, clean the print head only if the copy quality drops (for example, blurred printout, incorrect or missing color.)
r_space.gif
  • Use the nozzle check first to confirm that the print head needs to be cleaned. This saves ink.
r_space.gif
  • When the Error light is on and a message appears on the LCD panel to prompt you to replace the ink cartridge or to indicate the ink is low, you cannot clean the print head. In this case, replace the appropriate ink cartridge first.

Using the Head Cleaning utility

Refer to the appropriate section below to use the Head Cleaning utility.

For Windows

Follow the steps below to clean the print head using the Head Cleaning utility.

If the nozzle check page does not print satisfactorily, you may need to repeat the head cleaning and print the nozzle check pattern again. See Cleaning the Print Head.

r_note.gifNote:r_space.gif

  • If the copy quality has not improved after repeating this procedure four or five times, turn this product off and leave it alone overnight. Then, perform the nozzle check again and repeat the head cleaning if necessary.
r_space.gif
  • If the copy quality still has not improved, one or both of your ink cartridges may be old or damaged and may need to be replaced. To replace an ink cartridge before it is empty, see Replacing an Ink Cartridge. If the copy quality remains a problem after replacing the ink cartridges, contact your dealer.

  • To maintain good copy quality, we recommend copying a few pages at least once every month.

How to clean a epsom dx4450 printer

Depends where you want to clean it. It's a good idea to wipe the roller with a damp cloth sometimes, but if it is the print head then there is an article here: https://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/pho22_/pho22_rf/maint_2.htm

I must press the on/off button several times before turning the printer on or off. How can i fix it?

If your printer had a paper jam and will not go online it is most likely a hardware failure. You will need to contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician to repair the printer. Make sure you have powered it off for several minutes at least, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, and cleared the print queue. But if the printer itself is offline, none of those things will help as it is the printer itself that had failed. Epson Printer Support

I have a NX400 with just the Magenta head clogged.

Before you take drastic measures, please do things that don't damage your printer. It could be there is just a drop of air in your printer system.Remove the Magenta cartridge as told in the manual. Then put a drop of cleaning fluid in the little pipe you see in the bottom of the cartridge holder. then try to run a cleaning stage. If it won't run without a cartridge, it would be ok to put a empty one in. After some cleaning run's and a adjustment run, you than can place the new cartridge. Be sure you removed the sticky tape under the cartridge, and always before placing a new cartridge, when it is still in he plastic bag, shake the cartridge. Never shake without the cartridge in a bag!! because the ink will be overall in your place ant clothing.

Printer won't print

If the ink is too low the head cleaning won't work. Also, I have had to do the cleaning functions several times for it to work. Will it print a test page? Look in to reinstalling a print driver.
