The cartridges for this printer can be refilled. The chip needs to be reset on them so I suggest going to Cartridge World for refills because they have a 100% guarantee that they will work. The chip resetters can be pricey and filling these cartridges is messy without the proper equipment.

There's no difference. You need a USB cable with two different connectors, the "A" [flat connector] connects to the computer's USB port and the "B" [square connector] connects to the printer. If there's a standard for expressing this, it seems to be ignored - AB, A/B, ab, and a-b all are used. Cameras use a cable with A and mini-B connectors. your best option is to apply damp to the printer head, simply feed a wet wipe/ baby wipe under the printer carrige, when it is off of course, and leave it overnight this should leech out anything in the nozzels and get ink flowing again. it is simply a matter of time and effort and most service centres wont have either.....

As the warning says your printer is dying of old age. It's cheaper to replace it.

Power supply should be turn ON and some moment should be there when you open the FLAP of the Printer or either manually drag and replace the catridges.

this is idicative of a waste pad counter overflow, the ssc printer utility can clear the inbuilt counter but if your using your printer a lot it would be a good idea to replace or clean the waste pad, its inside the printer and will bee messy but if your doing lots of prints it will be less messy than if it overflows

Turn off the printer and then open the scanner unit. Cancel the print job.
See Canceling Printing Remove all of the paper inside, including any torn pieces. Close the scanner unit and then turn on the printer.

Blink alternately or not? If alternately, the message is not "general error". but "service required" It's true to reset waste ink counter. But, i think it's not service required. when trun on printer ready? But when start to print red lights blink at same time? Problem with chip at ink tank. Check connector at chip and at head carriage. It's may be dirty, and not good connection. try to use another chip.

I searched the manual and all online help from Epson. There is no detail for the problem, they simply say if you get that error, contact Epson support.

Any electrical shop should have them just ask for a figure of 8 power cord

Turn it off then back on...if that doesnt help you probably have either a paper jam or a stuck cartridge carrier.

Check the paper path and if its clear, gently try to move the cartidge carrier one way or the other with the power off, then turn power back on and see if it is fixed.

I believe so. Running an inkjet printer of this class for 5 years without major problems is fair enough. Better think of a replacement printer rather than trying to fix this one.

your ink catridge might be empty, try using a new one on it ans see how it works.

Check status monitor? See difference of chip reach ink out and not recognized. Reset chip that ink level reach ink out. Also check chip connector at ink tank and at chip itself. Plug ink tank securely. Check status monitor again. If still not resolved, try to use anither chip.
