Dc15 dyson when in the upright positon it woun't turn on
This was originally posted by "highntools" and I believe is related to your problem as well.
I
have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires
connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where
they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to
remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the
vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover
with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball
area.

My dyson DC15 the brush cuts in and out.

Check the above link to see if it helps. It shows you how to break down the DC15 to check for issues.
Also try inspecting the circuit board for loose wires. There have been several people who reported loose or burnt wires to be the culprit for the brush bar not working. The DC15 does not use a belt, but a motor that is control by the circuit board.
And I really believe that in your instance, the problem is a loose wire between the circuit board and the brush motor.

Yesterday, I removed a large amount of fish line
On the dyson the only thing that would normally cause it to stop running is an overheating problem. The fact that you have now removed the line from the vacuum head should have nothing to do with it. It sounds more like the switch contacts are faulty itself. I have found in the past that if you give Dyson a call they are quite willing to fix faults free of charge even if the hoover is out of warranty. Give them a call and see what they say.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

It is making a whistling sound and is losing
Make sure the top (above the cones) and the bottom (ball) filters are clean. The whistling sound is due to the bottom filter either being clogged or poorly seated and the air is escaping around the rubber seal, making the whistling sound.

Replacing the Brush Bar
The procedure is as follows:--
1. Lay your Dyson onto it's back and, using a two pence piece or a large flat screwdriver, turn each of the three soleplate fasteners a quarter of a turn in an anti-clockwise direction.
2. Remove the soleplate by pulling it away from the brush holder at the bottom edge.
3. Place the Brush Roll Removal Tool over the brush bar at the belt end.
4. Using the belt hook, pull the belt onto the bottom holding pin of the Brush Roll Removal Tool. Then hook the belt onto the top pin.
5. Carefully pull the brush bar out of the brush holder. Then unhook the belt from the Brush Removal Tool and remove the tool.

Dyson ball not picking up properly and very noisy
Is the beater brush spinning? Is the sole plate that is removable and covers the bottom side of the beater brush housing installed properly such that there are no gaps between it and the housing? Is the hose that connects the beater brush housing to the canister connected or have any holes in it?
My Dyson DC15 has suddenly become very reluctant
Hi its Darran at Dyson.
Although strange, I believe we have a solution. It sounds as though the cleaner head hose is blocked. When the machine is running the suction will be pulling against the bloskage causingt he hose to contract and prevent it from swivelling the left. When switched off there is no resistance in the cleaner head hose which is why it moves normally.
You simply need to check and clear the blockage from the cleaner head hose and this should resolve the problem.
Details on the blockage procedure can be found on our website at www.dyson.co.uk/support. From the Support section homepage, click on "My machine is not working", pick you machine and follow the diagnostics for my machine is not picking up correctly.
I hope that this information is useful to you.
Kind regards

The head of the Dyson 25 has stopped rotating
Hi its Darran at Dyson.
It may be that the brush bar needs to be re-set. To do this, switch the machine off, press the brush bar on/off button once and then switch the machine back on. When lowered into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start turning.
If it doesn't, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).
Kind regards

My hose will not come out and extend. If I can
Hi its Darran at Dyson.
If you are able to remove the hose and wand assembly, its worth checking for a blockage as this can cause the wand/hose to be difficult to remove and put back in place.
If you need further assistance, please call our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

DC15 - beater bar is not rotating
There is a tiny motor for the bar itself at the side of the bar you will see tiny slits which is the vent for the motor which is most likely burned out and will need a replacement.
Brush roll is making a rattling noise.
Hello,
There is something probably restricting movement of the rollers. Maybe a massive blockage, lOL :), or some other, But in rare cases, the brushes are not aligned properly. :)
The bar isn't turning on my Dyson Ball vacuum.
Greetings from GoVacuum,
The Dyson DC15 Ball is a two motor upright vacuum. Most other uprights use just a single motor that controls the suction on one end, and the roller brush on the other end.
The Dyson however is different. The DC15 has two motors, one dedicated to suction, the other dedicated to running the roller brush. You should first check to make sure that you in fact have turned on the lower motor for the carpet setting. There are two switches right next to each other, one is for the suction, the other for the roller brush, make sure both switches are turned to the on position.
If both are in the on posistion, and the brushes still don't come on, the machine also has a reset switch for the lower motor. This is here to help protect the belt from burning if something gets stuck in the vacuum while it's on. There is a little red reset button on the top of the roller brush housing (I believe on this model it's on the left side of the brush if you were vacuuming), try pressing this red reset switch.
If neither one of these suggestions fixes your machine, I would personally return the vacuum to where you bought it. There's no reason that it should not work right out of the box, and this may mean that the machine was damaged in shipping.
If you'd like some further help, please let me know by entering a clarification request to these suggestions, and I'd be more then happy to try and diagnosis this further with you.
Was this helpful to you? If so, please be sure to rate the repair tip as helpful, this will help me out a lot. I really appreciate it.

Turns on, brush rotates, but no suction.
the only thing i know about vacs is if there is no suction its blocked might have sucked up a piece of plastic bag and wraped around the fan hence no air or the screw that holds the fan has come loose take your filters out and turn on you may have sucked up fluid and not known it hence filters are blocked also brushes may seem alright but may be worn under half there fore springs are not at right tentsion if your armiture is black where the brushes run on may not be getting a good contact or if it smells burnt good chance you burnt it out then theres the power switch test with multi tester the check for loose terminals then test the field coils are correct ohms as well
My beater bar will not spin when the handle is lowered
The motor that spins the beater bar is connected to a tiny switch, if that switch is not operating that could be the problem. If the motor is not spinning, that could be your problem (seized), or if you have a broken belt that could be your problem.
Hope this helps
While operating machine, brush does not rotate.
Likely the wires are broken under the left hand cover not a difficult fix. Unplug the machine and remove the 4 torx screws and an access panel at the side of the ball. replace wires with new or re-connect with a splice. ensure wires are long enough to allow movement and you don't trap the wires when you replace the covers. about a 20 min job with the right tools
