This can happen if two tiny wires that are connected to the circuit board and lead to the beater bar are broken. These wires brake where they go through a black rubber grommet. You need a torx screwdriver (No: 15) to remove two plastic covers to access these wires . When looking from the front of the vacuum, the circuit board is located under the gray covers on the right side of the vacuum. There is one big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.

Apparent common failure is that either the thin yellow and or blue motor drive wires that run from the LH side of the vacuum where the "control board" is located down into the hinge / ball area become stretched and then fray and eventually break. You need a Torx screwdriver to remove the LH panel ( 4 screws) and also an access panel (2 screws) at the side of the ball which permits access to the blue / yellow wire connectors. I replaced with a new wire and connectors having fed the wires through the access hole making sure sure enough wire was available for the movement of the handle. Also ensure that when the covers are replaced they do not trap any wires underneath.

I had this problem a while back there is a button below ( RED) that you need to push in.
Try this a coule of times this happens when it clogs with hair and debre.

I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.
This my new year resolution is to warn people not to buy Dyson vacuum cleaner ( Junk) design to break down! Shame on you Dyson!!!! Save your money find good old vacuum cleaner with metal parts.

if the spade connectors are the same size then i would connect white to yellow and then blue to black

belt is broken or it came off take it to your nearest vacuum repair shop or if you handy you can repair yourself

You need to shut the brush roll off. It is ruining your rugs, the dyson has a very aggressive roller and can hurt some types of rugs and carpets.

I have the feeling you have something stuck somewhere at the hose. carefully use a clothe hanger and clean inside the hose. use a flashlight to see the object.

Hi there,

There is a second switch directly adjacent to the ON/OFF switch. This turns power on and off for the burshbar. Please check this switch is in the off position.

If the switch is definitely in the off position and the brushbar continues to run with the vacuum in the upright position, then the brushbar switch has failed in the closed (power on) position and will most likely need to be replaced.
