DYSON DC 07 MOTOR AND VACUUM OK. BRUSH BAR, CLEAN OF HAIR, DOESNT TURN EVEN WHEN ON CARPET-SURFACE WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO KICK IN DUE TO INCREASED VACUUM IN THAT CHAMBER. (OWNER MANUAL SAYS HARD FLOOR DOESNT ALLOW BRUSH TURNING)I ASSUME STRONGER VACUUM AT VAC-HEAD CAUSES AN IMPELLER TO DRIVE BELT AS THERE IS NO SEPERATE BAR-DRIVE MOTOR. HAND ROTATING THE BELTED BRUSH BAR HAS SOME FRICTION RESISTANCE SINCE IT ISNT A BALLBEARING DEVICE. IS THERE TOO MUCH TURNING FRICTION AT BRUSH BAR END BEARING? I AM MECHANICALLY INCLINED AND WISH TO SEE INTERIOR OF BRUSH BAR BELT DRIVE MECHANISM. IS THERE A PARTS EXPLODED VIEW AND DISASSEMBLY PROCEEDURE TO REPLACE BELT? THAT WILL AID ME TO SEE AND FIX THE PROBLEM.
Stand vacuum up and with it plugged in. Rotate knob between carpet and bare floor and back 5 times leaving it on carpet when finished. Rotate vacuum back from upright position and lay vacuum on the floor, rotating it onto its side. Turn vacuum on.

can you tell me if there is a filter under the plastic dirt bin
I have had Dyson All Floors model,( the one with the clutch
adjustment to allow transition from
carpet to hard floor) for a number of years. Recently pick up from carpet
particularly poor. Went through all the solutions as recommended on Dyson
website. No blockages, no broken sole
plate, bristles (should be around 7mm to
8mm long) protruding ok from soleplate ( these can wear slightly over
time but not usually the problem), belt not broken nor slipping. Filters
cleaned/ replaced, but still poor pickup. Checking for strength of suction, as
recommended by Dyson, both at top of hose and at bottom right inlet revealed no
problem there. It turned out the clear
inlet hose coming from the soleplate to the underside of the machine was the
problem from two viewpoints. Firstly, as can be expected, the clear hose
can develop splits after a number of years due to wear and tear. The other, not
so obvious, problem is that the hose is also a form of straight spring which is
designed to be compressed to a certain degree to an S shape when the machine is
in the upright position. Upon pulling the handle back, whilst pushing on the
footrest at the bottom results in pressure from the hose/spring being applied
to the rear of the sole plate, pushing it on to the carpet. Thereafter the
suction takes over, keeping the soleplate firmly fixed to the carpet. The
existing hose on my machine had settled in to an S shape over the several years
I have had the machine, thereby not pushing firmly enough the rear of
the soleplate on to the carpet ( I
noticed a significant gap at the rear whilst using the machine). For the couple
of splits I had effected a temporary repair using a couple of very narrow
strips of Gaffa tape, whilst awaiting the new hose/spring, but only a marginal'
if any, improvement. Upon receiving and attaching the new hose/spring the solepate
was properly pressed onto the surface of the carpet and pickup was like new.

my dyson animal will not stay on. i have to hold the power switch on to vacuum. ive checked for clogs and there arent any.
Pull the wand out of the Vac. Need to use a small Torx bit to take out 2 screws hidden behind the wand storage. Once screws are out, there are 4 push-clips which need to be un-latched. Pry the power panel off and you will expose the two switches (one for power, one for the brushes). Push the power switch down and it should "release" and go back to clicking when pushed. Re-assemble. Took about 5 minutes to fix.

Replace power cord on Dyson DC07
The following link will take you to an article on how to change the motor on a DC07. Look at photos 4, 5 and 6 which shows how to disconnect the power cord.

my problem is with the filter it is always blocked with hair and debris, it makes a high pitched sound when it is clogged up and i don't why but it is not going into the canister. i have an animal dyson. any suggestions?
I found that the rubber seal on the bottom of my cyclone is not properly seated to the bottom of canister, I guessed when I removed the clear canister bin completely from cyclone unit for cleaning, I put the cyclone down on the floor and rubber seal accidentally move upward just a little. this creates a small gap on the bottom when I reassembled it, (since seal is up from it original position a little). I pulled rubber seal down to its original position, you will notice that there should not be a gap on the bottom at all, this way you do not have to clean or should not have to clean the filter but once a month or even less.

how do you replace the pre filter catch on a dc07 please
The pre filter retaining clip is easy to fit, but hard to get the old one out. This is the easy way to do it:-
Turn the machine over, where the bottom of the clip should be is a plate blocking access, it is held in place by a torex headed screw. DO NOT remove this. Instead drill about an 8mm hole through the plastic plate, roughly in the middle level with the large 'A'. This will give you access to the bottom of the clip. Put a flat blade scewdriver through your new access hole and push out the broken clip. It should spring out with a couple of knocks with the palm of your hand. Turn the machine upright and push in the new clip. The hole is not seen and as long as it is a neat job, does not affect the strength of the plate.
Cheers Malc.

how do i empty my dyson dc07
Hi its Darran at Dyson.
Remove the bin and cyclone assembyl by pressing the release button above the word Dyson on the carrying handle towards the machine.
Then hold the bin and cyclone assembly over a dustbin and pull the trigger located underneath the carrying handle which will release the bin base to empty the dust and debris from the bin.
I hope this information is useful to you and should you need any further help or advice, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).
Kind regards
Darran

We have Dyson Animal vacuum, we were trying disassemble the vacuum unit because it's clogged but cannot disassemble. We have already cleaned the filter out, but still not suctioning is not what it was at the beginning.
There are 4 (I believe only 4) screws with a "star driver" head on them inside the bottom of the unit (two are flush mounted and two are recessed about 1/4" inside a hole) that can be removed to allow access to the interior to remove pet hair etc. However, only two are easily accessible and require a long star driver. The other two would require a tool that has a flexible neck on it that would still allow you to use the star bit as they are located near the larger holes you can see inside the bottom of the canister.

Hi- I have suction loss in the hose when I am trying to use the handheld tool- any suggestions?
Had the same problem twice and washed the filter to no avail. Called Dyson to troubleshoot, and in one minute they had me removing the purple plastic noodle shaped piece towards the bottom on the side (the next time it was the silver noodle on the opposite side). Inside was a bent pen and tons of debris wrapped around it that slowed the suction. Poked the debris out, and it worked perfectly.

what do I do?
Hi.
Check the brush roller can be moved by hand & that it is not snagging on something.
If it is difficult to rotate remove sole plate by turning the 3 plastic screws to unlock position lift plate off & clean brush roller & check you can turn it after this.
If brush roller is free to rotate the chances are the clutch is faulty & will need to be replaced.
Go to this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/
It has manuals that cover clutch replacing on all Dyson models.
