After hours of investigation, I have found the root of the suction problem for anyone having the same problems. If you take the hoses off the change valve that switches between hose and brush bar. You will see that the change over is done by a flimsy piece of plastic that doesn't actually create a seal with either ports. In fact mine had a 2/3mm gap. Its disgraceful that it left the factory this way, they should have been recalled and replaced!I wonder what Mr Dyson would say about this .Let me know if your is the same and Ill tell you how I partially fixed it to get atleast 200% better suction!
I just was doing a search as to why some **** rugs are NOT to be vacuumed. There are some that say to shake or sweep, but do not vacuum. Do you think this may be the problem? Just wondering . These are hand tufted rugs called Vesper or/and Paladeum or something like that. lol

Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. If it doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, it's possible that there's a blockage in the system - I'd also recommend giving the filter a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:
http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=4&product=DC07-ANIMAL_US
Under normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow up to 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.
By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and to recommend the best course of action.
Kind regards,
Jack

Hi Peggy,I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. From what you described, it sounds as if your machine has a blockage. The filter may also need a wash.Although I note you already took it apart, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to make sure you haven't missed anything:http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suctionIn normal use, the filter needs to be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. We'd recommend using cold water without detergent. Leave the filter somewhere warm to dry, such as in an airing cupboard or by a radiator, for at least 12 hours, and make sure you don't replace the filter in the machine before it's totally dry. This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).Best wishes,JackDyson Online Customer Supporthttp://www.dyson.com
