I took the roller brush off to clean it,replaced it now it will only spin in the recline position.l put it in the vacuum position and it stops. I have a DC 14 animal.
I'm not sure what you mean by recline and vacuum positions. Normally when the handle is in the upright position to use the tools and hose the brush roll does not turn. When you recline the handle into the floor vacuuming position the brush spins. If you were able to remove the brushroll an reinstall it the brush roll belt is likely very stretched out because otherwise it is very difficult to put the bush roll back in with out using the belt change tool. This can cause the brushroll to spin but stop spinning when when it hits the carpet because he belt is too loose. Belts must be very tight to spin the brush roll in he carpet. There is also another belt that you can't see under the clutch cover. It becomes stretched out also. The belts need to be replace every few years as do any stretch belts. The hard part about changing belts on your model is they are inside the clutch, it's easier to replace the whole clutch. If you have any questions or need any of the parts or belt change tool please email me at

Problems with suction on floor of vac
Often times when people bring a vac in for repairs and say it has no suction at the floor it has good suction but not good agitation. Make sure the belts in the clutch are new (some people are selling used clutches with stretched out belts) and the brush roll is good. If the agitation from the brush roll is not good it will not pick up even light soils like hair and lint.

Dyson blowing top of cyclone air release valve.
It sounds like the same problem I was having. I had loss of suction through he hose then all of the air was coming out through the vent/valve on top of canister. If you are looking at your dyson from the back, look at the bottom. You will see a purple plastic tab on the bottom left. That allows you to remove the plastic u-shaped hose that goes from the hose to the bottom of the dyson. I just removed that and found it was completley blocked. I removed it and the dyson has no loss of suction orair through top valve/vent. I hope this helps. I never post but i'm just excited that I got my dyson working perfectly again.

Dyson dc15 brush bar turns intermittently depending on angle of vacuum
Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. There are a number of reasons why your brush roller is not working properly. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance. First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing. While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all. My dyson dc14 wont turn on
Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.
If your vacuum doesn't turn on, make sure that plug is fully inserted into a fully functional electronic outlet. If it still not turning on after verifying this, it could be that the power switch is malfuntioning. You may need to replace the power switch by opening up the handle of your vacuum. I suggest to refer to your manual on how to replace the power cord or contact Dyson for troubleshooting steps. 1-844-679-1647

Dyson DC 14 Animal - The carpet brush does not
The brush will only spin when the machine is reclined. Not when the machine is stood upright.
If the brush doesn't turn when the machine is reclined, and the brush control set to "auto", you have a brush bar and/or belt problem.
