Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum - Page 5 Questions & Answers
Why when I Pull out handle to use edging attachment, suction stops?
Make sure that the vacuum cleaner is in the fully upright position as there is a slide 'gate' thet directs suction to either the vacuum head or to the handle section depending as to which section you wish to use. In the upright position, you shoud be able to hear the vacuum at the handle where the attachments connect. If you still have vacuum at floor level, check the action of this gate. The actuating mechanism may be broken. Cheers Bob

No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal
Hi its Darran at Dyson.
It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.
For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Beater bar making a loud noise
Our DC33 was making the same ratcheting sound immediately upon placing the cleaner/brush head on the carpet. We carefully pulled the beater/brush bar out of the vacuum. Once removed, we pulled the black plastic end nearest the belt off of the center rod. We discovered hair wrapped around each end of the center rod. After the hair was removed and the clean/brush bar was re-installed, the vacuum ran flawlessly. Hope it works as well for you as it did for us.
My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible
Something is causing the brush to slow down, either it is full of hair or debris or the brush itself is wearing out and may need changed. The noise you are hearing is the motor protector keeping it from burning up becuse there is some type of drag on the brush. If there is no issues with the brush then I would suspect the clutch assembly is worn and needs replaced. Here is a diagram for you to look at and go from there.

HOW TO LOCK THE CANSTER LID ON DYSON DC 14
Hi Keith, it's Jack at Dyson.
If you're unable to close the bin base after emptying your vacuum, it sounds like something is incorrectly fitted or missing. Please ensure the clear bin is firmly attached to the cyclone pack, and that there is no visible damage to the clear bin, the bin base or the cyclone pack.
