Hello fhmiy,

When you power up the computer keep hitting the delete key this will allow you to get into the bios setup. Here is a bonus for you too, the motherboard manual with diagrams of the entire motherboard and all the info you need to build it from scratch.

Hello,

Is this your actual motherboard:
8VM533M-RZ (GA-8VM533M-RZ)

Thanks, sometimes our category selector isn't all that thorough and this is what I see regarding your motherboard.

The actual version is in the center of your motherboard.

Not booting

you have a motherboard system fault.
1) try different memory sticks
2) check if hard drive wired in correctly
the broad ribbon cable to it should have the stripe next the the power 4 pin plug
3) try a different video card
there are other things to try but try these first

Which one wins??

Hi,
The big differance between the two is the onboard video uses you're system memory to run & you can increase the memory for the card but that will take away system memory. What type of system memory are you using? SDRAM or DDR?
The Radeon 7000 will use its own memory freeing you're system memory. If this is you're only choice I would suggest the Radeon 7000.
I can give you a third choice which blows away both graphics cards (combined).
Here is one. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3570059&CatId=318
& here.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131081
How about a big list. of 4x cards able to run today's game & directX 10.

The choice is your's.

Good Luck!
Have fun...

Jumper setting

You will need a manual for this board. There is no manual for USA. This link below is for euro.
http://www.giga-byte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1766
There are two power connectors. Both can be seen on pg. 6
Motherboard layout.
There is one ATX 20 pin connector just behind the Floppy drive cable connector. The second power connector is to the left of the CPU & down behind the intergrated USB. It is a 4-pin ATX_12volt connector. If either one is not connected correctly the moard will not boot. The case to motherboard connectors is located on
pg.15. F_Panel (2x10 pins Connector) & PWR_LED = (Power LED) for case.
Please use the manual as your guide.
& please vote...

Display driver problems

Hi orlandotech, you are aware the Integrated ProSavage8 2D/3D graphics uses you're current system memory to function.
Couple things you can try. First download & install the video drivers I found on the internet for your card. Lets see if one of these fixes you're trouble. The link is for Gigabyte 7VM400AM-RZ VIA 1616/1617 codec 5.20b driver. Though its not you're board the video chip is the same. (VIA 1616/1617). So give the driver a chance. (Click on the link). Unistall old driver's first.

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/VIA/Gigabyte-7VM400AM-RZ-VIA-1616-1617-codec-5-20b.shtml

Second driver File name: 139635IShld.zip
http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/s3pro-security-dl.html
You have to click on; Downloading the S3 ProSavage video driver 13.93... To get the download started.
If neither of these help you're system, you can try increasing the shared memory from within you're bios. (See you're user manual for adjusting/increasing shared memory for the video).
Gigabyte's web link for you're board.
http://be.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=1766

If everything above still does not help/fix. There could be a problem with the integrated ProSavage8 2D/3D graphics chip.
Suggest you buy am AGP 4X video card. This will free up you're system memory. You will again need to enter you're bios & change the bios to load the AGP card over the integrated card.
Again use you're manual to find the correct section.
