Sony Mavica MVC-FD100 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Shutter won't open
With a digital camera, some things go different as we were used to with the film camera. The autofocus function, will try to prevent you from taking a picture when not focused.
With a digital camera, every picture should be ok. Than means, as soon as the camera "thinks" not enough light or not in focus, it won't release the shutter. Even when not in automatic, the camera wants to make sure it is in focus and has enough light. So try again when you have enough light. Then press the shutter release button half, till the camera is ready focusing and then press complete. If the camera still strikes perhaps it needs a repair centre?
Make sure you did place the camera in automatic, to exclude other possibilities that can cause "out of focus" or "wrong light"
Do I put the memory
Hi nafisa_arefi,
Thanks for the question ,
You are not required to remove the memory card while you charge your camera as it's irrelevant and it will not affect your camera in any way whether you have the memory stick in it or not.
Hope this answers your question ...:) Your feedback would be appreciated.
I need a manual for
You can download the manual from the manufacturer's web site at

When turning on my Sony
When the LCD is black (with no image displayed) isn't necessarily the LCD bad. I would say that out of all of the cameras sent to me for this problem, 99% of them don't require a new LCD. Generally, the only LCD's I replace are physically cracked. No option there... The drive circuit for the display is usually the problem area.
Please click on the link to view the troubleshooting steps then follow all the steps and check if that helps: The LCD screen is blank or appears dark or black
Hope helps.
Memory stick error
The Mavica MVC-FD100 has spec for the std. memory stick and does not allow use of the newer Pro-Duo memory stick. Buy an old used std. memory stick on ebay to fix your problem.
When a floppy disc is inserted it flashes disk
The floppy driver has an internal switch that detects when the floppy disk is protected or not.
It is likely such switch is damaged.
It is necessary to open the camera and the floppy drive to fix it.
If you have experience and skills in fixing electronic devices, or want to try it, then you can try its repair.
The alternative is to pay to have repaired, but is more likely that the quote you will receive is to replace the whole floppy drive, which costs around $40.00 plus the repair labor.

Format error on a sony digital mvc-fd100
If the disks you are using are new, there is always a possibilty you got a bad batch or you got some that were not pre-formatted, or were formatted for an apple computer.
I assume that there is some way to format a floppy disk with the camera.
Try to do that and then see if the floppy is recognized.
Drive error
I get the same problem, what is the solution?
SHOWING A YELLOW LIGHT BUT NOT CHARGING
