Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P32 Digital Camera - Page 3 Questions & Answers
My sony cybershot 3.2 won't
This is usually due to a stuck shutter cover. First off though try hitting the camera reset button to see if this solves it. If not carefully open camera by removing screws, disconnect ribbons, unhook shutter cover motor wire (2 wire connector) pull board out and away from front housing, force cover open or see if gears or jammed, camera will work if cover is left open but you will have to live without it. Once forced open leave motor dissconnected, or if you found gears were jammed reconnect it. Be very careful of flash capacitor circuit and contacts, they may shock you if you touch them. Hope you get it working if you still have the camera.
Sony CyberShot 3.2 Mega Pixel Problem
Is the lens cover opening?
If not, (this is what was wrong with mine), get a set of cheap eyeglass screwdrivers from the "dollar store". Then commence disassembling the camera, use the smallest phillips screwdriver you can find to remove all the screws, then disconnect the tiny/red/black wire clip from the circuit board (I used a small flat-head screwdriver for this.
After you get the circuit board out of the way you can see the actual mechanisms that control that part of the camera. Remove the small lens cover motor (with red/black wire attached to it) by taking out its phillips screw. There are two sensors for the cover on a small circuit. Open/close the lens cover manually & you'll see where these sensors verify whether or not the cover is open. If the camera senses the cover isn't open, then it will give you this error & never turn on in photo or video mode. I moved the "geared lens" over to the open position & reassembled the camera & it has worked fine since then. My motor was locked up, so I left it plugged in to the circuit board, I assume that you could leave it unplugged & it would not know the difference (sensor wise).
Hope this helps someone else get their camera going again!
I have a sony cybershot
DSC-P73 is an old model cybershot and does not support 1GB memory stick.
Please use maximum 512MB memory stick.
My lens in my camera
Posting this everywhere I see this problem. Sorry for the repitition, but it saved me and my camera!
I just contaced Sony support for the exact same problem. If you're able to power the camera on in VIEW mode, open the rubber tab to expose the USB and DC In connections, directly above that there is a small RESET button. Get a paperclip and push and hold the button until the camera resets itself. This fixed my problems, hope it will fix yours!
