Stripes horizontal

The manual on page 122 says: Vertical streaks appear when you are shooting a very bright subject. Cause / Solution : The smear phenomenon is occurring. This phenomenon is not a malfunction. So when you are photographing in bad light, and some where in the frame is a bright light, from that light, white vertical strips can occur. But you mention Horizontal lines. If this happens in normal light, outside, or in every light condition, something else must be wrong. I wonder if bringing a 10 year old camera to a repair store or Sony service centre is worth doing.

Hi, Recently I bring my kid

You're going to have to take the camera into a camera shop to have the lens cleaned. There are special tools and other items that you need to have to take the lens apart and put it back together. I would phone around to different camera stores in your area to see what they would charge you to do the cleaning as it will probably vary quite a bit from shop to shop.

When I take a picture it records and doesn't take

Before you take a picture, change video mode to picture mode, you can change from MENU setting.
If you already have videos and you want to save picture from them, you can play the video, then pause where you want to save the picture. Click PrtSc on your keyboard (Print Screen) > Save the picture > Edit with Adobe Photoshop > Direct Print or you can insert in Office Word page before print them. Some media player even support screen captor, like Power DVD. You can save pictures easily with this software !

Hope this help and if you feel helped, RATE please !

Do not power on?

Sounds like a short. Is the battery in correctly? Is there anything laying across the contacts in the battery compartment?

I wish to use my sony DSC-V3 in the video mode

You download the file just like you download your pictures. As long as you have a player on your computer capable of playing it back, all you have to do is double-click on the image.

Goes right to video

The mode dial button seems to be overused. You can easily open your camera (I did with a philips driver), but I don't think you can do something without soldering iron.

No CF card

The camera body has a tiny switch marked "CF" in one position and Sony's "memory stick" symbol in the other. Apparently I accidentally reset the switch from "memory stick" to "CF" while slipping the camera body into (or out of) its carrying-case. Once I had set this switch from "CF" back to the "memory stick" position, everything worked fine. Solution:  read the user's manual more carefully next time!!
