Quantaray AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 High Speed Auto Focus Zoom for Minolta Questions & Answers
Quantaray 70-300 zoom lens
The lens is for Minolta/Sony A mount and you are trying to use it on a canon body which has the contacts and mounting points in a different position so it isn't going to work as well as a lens with the correct mount for the body you are using if at all you will need to get the lens mount changed or an adapter built to allow the lens contacts to mate up in the correct order
will be cheaper to buy a camera body to fit the lens or a lens that fits the canon mount lens
Will this lense work with a Canon Rebel T31 ?
Quantaray makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. A lens with a Minolta mount will not fit onto a Canon camera. A lens with a Canon mount will work just fine on a Canon camera.
Quantaray lense wont work on nikon D50
David - The lowest setting is the highest number; f22 is lower than f4. It's little counter-intuitive, but the lowest setting means the least amount of light - or the smallest aperture opening - not the numerical "f" value of the opening. Simply twist the aperture ring until the highest value "f" number is selected. Many lenses have a small tab or latch to lock them in this position - if yours does, you can use it to prevent this from happening again. You would use a command dial on most camera bodies to electronically change the aperture opening.Good luck!
Will this lens work with a Canon 5d mkii?
Quantaray makes their lenses with a variety of camera mounts. A lens with a Nikon mount, for example, will not work on a Canon body. As long as you get the lens with a Canon mount, it will work with the 5D MKII.

Fixing it could be at Least $ 75 to $100 and since the lens only sells for about $200 it may not be worth fixing. To sell it broken for parts will yeild you much less money. But if you can sell it and get enough money to keep it out of a landfill then it was worth it.
Will this lens (the Quantaray AF70-300) fit my new
It depends on the mount. Quantaray lenses are available for a wide variety of mounts. If you specifically buy the one with the Nikon mount, then it will work. If you buy one with, say a Canon mount, then it won't fit.
How to use auto fouse
The D40 does not have a focus motor, instead relying on a motor in the lens. This lens does not have such a focus motor, and thus will not autofocus with the D40.
Lense only focuses manually
its not junk, prob too expensive to fix. but makes a nice fixed focus lens. Quantray were on the same level as vivitar, sigma. So they are now that expensive to replace
Hello i have a Quantaray 70-300mm DI f/4-5.6
Look at the writing on the lens. There is a number next to a circle with a line through it. The 70-300 is probably made by Tamron and sold under the Quantaray name. Probably a 62mm diameter.

Error 99 is one irritant in many Canon SLRs. In general, it means there is some problem with the contacts. So try cleaning the electrical contacts of the body and lens with a pencil eraser. Please take care to hold the camera upside down while doing this so that the residue does not fall inside. Also take out the battery and clean the contacts. Now re-attach everything and try taking the image. Also check if your lens has an aperture ring and aperture lock. If so, lock the aperture ring at the minimum aperture. If these do not solve the problem, try updating the firmware to the latest one.
Is the quantaray autofocus af70-300 lens
It depends on the mount on the camera.
Quantaray is a 3rd party lens maker. They make the lens itself, then add a mount for each brand of camera lens mount. In some cases, you can have the mount changed at a camera shop.
But the only way to answer your question is to know what camera it was used on previously. If it was used on a Sony, then, likely, yes.
