Kingston Technology RAM Modules KFJ-PM313/8G Memory - 8 GB - Questions & Answers
Ram Memory
What OS are you using? If you have a 32-bit OS, this is the normal behavior. The extra 0.75 GB isn't directly addressed by the OS; it will be used for part of the memory cache. If you had a 64-bit OS, you would either see the full 4GB of memory or have a POST memory error on boot. For most Windows OS versions, you can check your version by going to the System Control Panel. On XP through Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel. Then go to System and Security > System. If you do not see x64 at the end of the OS title, you have the 32-bit OS. For Windows 8 from the desktop, use the Charms menu (Win+C) or Windows Tools menu (Win+X). Then from Charms, select Settings and then Control Panel. From the Tools, go to Control Panel. Select System and Security > System. Read the line "System Type" in the System section.I hope this helps. Cindy Wells(My old system could not support a 64-bit OS due to the CPU; I still put in the full 4GB even though it wasn't fully accessible.)
