Sharp El-531x Scientific Calculator Green Bp Package Of 5 Questions & Answers
I can't get letters like t and u but my friend can and we can't find the right button
Did it occur to you that calculators from different manufacturers may implement different features? Look at your calculator and see if there are keys that have letters next to them. The EL-531 family of calculators has several temporary memory locations where you can store values: A, B, C, D, X ad Y. To access these locations you press [ALPHA] followed by the key that has a letter marking near it.
A general suggestion is to read the calculator's instruction pages.
How to I stop my sharp EL-531X calculator from rounding when converting from decimal to scientific notation?
You need to select the number of decimal places you would like, or if you would like the calculator to behave as normal. Press SET UP and select FSE (press 1) . You now have 5 options.
0: FIX means you can choose a fixed number of decimal places for every calculation.
1: SCI means scientific notation and choose the number of significant values you would like to deal with.
2: ENG means engineering and the power goes up in multiples of 3.
3: NORM1 and 4: NORM2 are the usual or normal settings on the calculator. Most school calculations will use NORM1 mode.
Change square root answer to fractions
It will usually only be an approximation when you do that. Take sqrt 3 for example, 1.7320508.......the decimals go on and on.
So we usually write 1.7321 or some other rounding off. This means 1 and 7321/10000 which does not divide exactly, so you would have to fudge again, say 1 and 732/1000 or 1 and 73/100, which is not the true answer.
Occasionally you get lucky like sqrt 18.0625 = 4.25 = 4 25/100
which is 4 1/4 exactly.
