USB port on Actiontec for shared printer?

There is supposedly a firmware upgrade available that extends the functions of the usb port so the short answer is "maybe"

My best suggestion is to check out the actiontek web site. Also you should try access the setting page (http://192.168.1.1) and see what options are available within the router itself for USB

Can I upgrade the antenna on my actiontec gt701wg router?

There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.

Lost encryction code

You will need to go into the router settings to change the code manually.
  1. Connect your computer via ethernet.
  2. In the address bar of your browser enter http://192.168.0.1
  3. Go to Wireless Settings
  4. There should be a field with the wireless pass code. You can change it to anything you'd like
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the code without connecting physically with a wired connection.

Can you broadcast wireless signal from connecting

Yes, all the computers in your home (wired or wireless) can communicate with each other, via the router, even when the router has *NO* connection (through DSL-modem or cable-modem) to the Internet.

Red internet light

the following link provides some very streightforward advise;
http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/modems/gt701/pdf/13566_GT701_ServiceStatus_031906msl.pdf

check the following in order
1 check that all of the cables are securely plugged in, if you find any loose plug them back in, you may need to powercycle the router afterwards though if the router is subsquently plugged into another unit down the chain power off both units turn them back on turning on the actiontec last.

2 if your ISP requires logon details to be included in your router, double check by viewing your router settings renter them if you are unsure.

3 lastly, have you paid your ISP bill?

Trying to change from actiontec gt701 to actiontec

The reason why your internet light is red for the actiontec gt701-wg is because it is not yet configure. You need to access the gui of this router. enter the username and password for your internet connection. You can contact your ISP provider so they can walk you through for the steps on how to configure your new router.

The old router has green light because it was already configured by your ISP provider.

Internet light is not illuminated

Pull your ethernet cable out of the router and plug into your computer and see if you have internet. If you don't, then Qwest for a solution.

Actiontec GT701WG ROUTER

If you cannot connect to the router through 192.168.0.1, do a harware reset - I think there is a button in bach and use the factory default user/password. Then just disable the wireless in setup, advanced, wirless settigs - click Wireless Off radio button. And change the password.

Ps3 won't connect wireless or thru the ethernet...any help?

If you have the 20 Gig modle wireless is not built in. If you have another modle you'll need to go to the Network Settings on the PS3 and switch the mode to wireless... You can then run "easy setup" and test for connection. Make sure you define the correct security and key (such as 64 bit WEP if nessicary) in the PS3 Network settings.
