Power for the printer has failed

Please go through the following checklist to identify and fix the problem:
  • Make sure the power cord is plugged in securely and directly to the power outlet. Power surge protectors can draw power away from the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet and the back of the printer and then reconnect it.
  • Check the power supply box (if there is one) to see if it is warm or cold, as there could be a defective power supply issue.
  • If there is access to a voltmeter, test the power supply to ensure that it registering the correct amount of voltage (most Lexmark printers have a 30Volt output).
  • Make sure the correct power supply is connected to the printer.

Can no longer print

The flashing light could indicate either a communication problem between one of your cartridges and the printer, a short in one of the cartridges, paper jam or the cartridge carrier has stalled. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:
  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Make sure there are no foreign objects or debris in the feeder.
  2. Open the printer cover and remove both the cartridges.
  3. While the cover is open, ensure there are no paper jams and the cartridge carrier is free from obstructions.
  4. Close the printer cover.
  5. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.
  7. Close the printer cover and check the light status.
  8. If light on printer is normal, open the printer cover and reinsert the other cartridge. Check the light status.
  9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the light to flash with a new cartridge. You can also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.
  10. Load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Prints blank pages

In this case it is either a faulty print head..or it is just a mater of changing the cartridges...Usually if the printer was not used for a long period of time ..(2 weeks or more) ...the cartridges goes dry and this will be the result...-blank printing ...The easy way to solve it ...is changing them with new and genuine ones...or ..if you use refilled ones..try to insert air with a syringe ..into them so that they will mix..and also ...fill them again and agitate ...In the moment when they will leave a good mark when pressed on a paper ..(1 cm ink mark ...about 2 mm wide)..it means they will work ..Also try to reset the ink counter when you put them back ...(it may be in error )

Windows keeps finding new hardware

Run the driver from the disk by clicking on the execution file ..or running the auto-installation ..and only attach the printer when it asks or after the driver is installed ..Or ...plug the printer...and let the wizard start ..select not to look for the driver on the net ..but to select it from a location ...click the case that will alow to browse for a location ..and point the search to the disk drive ..and click next ..this way you will force windows to install the driver for it ..If on the disk are several drivers for more than one operation system ..you will have to select when browsing the driver folder and specify the xp one ..

Printer has stopped printing blue

Make sure that you are inserting only genuine Lexmark cartridges in your printer. Removing then re-inserting the color cartridge into the printer is a quick to minor cartridge communication issues.
Make sure that your color cartridge still has substantial ink level for printing using the Lexmark Solution Center software on your computer.
Click Start > Programs > Lexmark X74-X75 > Lexmark X74-X75 Solution Center. Check the ink levels.
If color ink level is still good, then it probably just needs some cleaning. Print quality issues can be due to dirty or clogged print cartridge nozzles. From the Maintenance tab in the Lexmark X74-X75 Solution Center, click Clean print nozzles to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a test page. Try to print a color page again to verify that the problem with the blue color is fixed.
If the problem continues, try to insert a different known working color cartridge to identify if it's a faulty cartridge issue.

I changed my printer ink

  1. Make sure the printer is switched on, the old cartridges are still in the printer, and the cartridge cover is closed.
  2. Click on Start, Programs (XP: All Programs), Lexmark <Printer Name>, Lexmark <Printer Name> Solution Center.
  3. When the Solution Center screen appears, click on the Maintenance button on the left-hand side. (This button is the third from the top and bears a picture of ink drops.)
  4. When you see the Install or obtain a New Cartridge option, click on it once. A pop-up displays a brief description of how to physically remove an old cartridge and install a new one.
  5. Follow these instructions and click Next. The software will prompt you to confirm whether the cartridges are new or old.
  6. For the new cartridge you just inserted, select No, it's new. Important: Make sure the setting for any old cartridge stays on Yes, It is old.
  7. Once your selections have been made, click OK. The program will want to run the alignment for any new cartridges you installed. This applies whether you changed one or both cartridges (in the case of printers that can hold two cartridges). An alignment screen with a red and white bull's eye will appear.
  8. Make sure the cartridge cover is closed and that there is paper in the printer.
  9. Then click the Print button on the alignment screen. A sheet of paper will print from your printer with a series of arrows and numbers on it, with one set of solid bars above them. You should see four groups of lines, unless you have a single cartridge. If you have a single cartridge, you will only have one set of lines.
  10. In each group, locate the arrow that looks the most solid. It may help to circle the number under each arrow you choose as you go along.
  11. On your screen, you will see an area where you can enter the alignment values. When you have identified all the numbers, select those same numbers for each group on your screen, using the up and down arrows next to each value for A, B, C, and D (or A if you have only one cartridge).
  12. When all the numbers have been changed to reflect the chosen numbers on the printed alignment page, click OK. The cartridge installation procedure is complete.
  13. You can now exit from the Solution Center.

Please follow steps below to identify the cause of the problem and fix the issue:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again.
