This temporary storage of fax may happen when one of your cartridge is detected low ink level. Try to replace your low ink cartridge. Sadly, if you have navigated away from the fax menu after inserting a new cartridge or clearing the message, you may lose the fax. You can try to have the sender resend the message. When this problem happens again, just replace your cartridge without turning off your printer. Once inserted, accept the incoming fax message to print it.

Alignment problem

  • Turn on your inkjet printer and select the "Printer Assistant" program from your computer.

  • Choose "Utilities" or "Tools and Updates," depending on your software.
  • Select "Calibrate" to start the calibration process. It may take a few minutes.
  • Examine the printout and follow the instructions on your computer for how to pick the best printout. You will have to choose the straightest lines on the page and let the software know which lines are the straightest. Your printer will print out several more pieces of paper and ask you to find the straightest lines. Keep doing this until the lines on the test page appear straight.

We bought a new router, now my new router doesn't

Try connecting directly to the rounter from your printer. Does it work?

If so, you know it's a wireless issue.

Get the IP address of your printer and enter the same number in your router settings.

    This will avoid any conflicts.

    Hi, I have a lexmark

If you receive an error message that tells you that you have an unsupported cartridge, then you need to remove the cartridge. After installing the appropriate type of ink cartridge you should no longer receive the error message and you can then perform a print test.
Instruction on how avoid unsupprted cartridge message.
    1. Lift up the scanner unit (with the power on). The printer cartridge carrier will move to the top of the printer into the loading position.
    2. Press down on the lever above the cartridge and then raise the cartridge lid. Remove the cartridge and make sure the cartridge supports no more than four colors (cyan, yellow, magenta and black) and a speed of 22 parts per notation.
    3. Insert the compatible ink cartridge into the carrier and then lower the cartridge lid. Close the scanner unit, then make sure plain white paper is inserted into the paper loader.
    4. Press the "OK" button on the control panel and the unsupported cartridge message should be gone. Press the "Select" button and a test alignment page will print.

Scanner not feeding on lexmark x7170. paper feeds

I have the same all-in-one printer and have just recently, the unit is a few years old, started having the same problem. I found that that if I make double sure the pages are evenly stacked and very carefully placed in the feeder tray, the problem is less common. It doesn't work everytime but ar least I get my faxes through on the first attempt 75% of the time.

    Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved. 2

If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved. the 2200 error is a scanner error means the scanner motor failed to initialize. lexmark recommends that you unplug the unit remove the power supply wait a couple of minute reinstall the p/s and power the unit back up. step to is repeat step one but us the belt to move the scanner carriage to the middle and power it up.
on top of this i would inspect the guide bars for dirt build up and clean them if need be. one thing to consider the ccd knows that it has reached home by the reflecting of the light to the carriage home photo cell within the scanner itself. this light is reeflected back off of the mirrors inside of the ccd. dust on these mirrirs will prevent the photo cell from nowing where home is. these can be cleaned with q-tips

    plz rate the solution

My unit says "Clear paper jam in document feeder"

There will be something in there, whether it is toner/ink over a sensor, a paperclip/staple, or a tiny scrap of paper.
The trick with this one is patience, methodically strip it down as far as you can, checking as you go for stuck material, and once you have gone as far as you can put it back together nice and slowly, looking for broken connections and loose bits, then try it again.

If there is nothing in there then the printer has something broken and needs looking at by a technician, in this case you should turn to your warrenty.
