No display on msi 7142 on start up

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions

even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause this problem or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

hope this helps you

My sound driver is installed,but

Hi.

Before you go to the motherboard on which maintenance possibilities to the on-motherboard sound card is very limited.

Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio

Click the drop down menu and see if there is more than 1 device capable of taking control of the audio function. If more than 1, select the correct default Audio Output Device>Apply>ok>restart pc.

Then test sound again by playing music in Sample Music.

If no solution emerges and there is a hardware fault (unlikely) to the motherboard soundcard, then buy and install a cheap internal PCI soundcard to bypass the on-board sound card, install it, the drivers and then restart the pc.

Hope this helps.

I tried to install windows7

I have the very same MB on my desktop. The VGA is not available for 7 and not likely to be. you can go to the SITE and run the tool, It will give you all the updates available, which isn't likely to be many. I have decided to get a new MB after I get taxes next year. I'm sorry this isn't good news, but that is the meat of the matter
