Aprilaire 700 Humidifier - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Is it worth fixing my aprilaire 112 which is 17
I would advise you to replace your old humidifier. The reason for this, is that at 17 years old, you will probably find that parts are scarce, and fixing one thing only breaks another. Also, the old humidifiers, by design, are a perfect breeding place for mold and algae, and switching to a new flow through type is advisable.
I have a 760 which is having a problem. the fan
Hello. Your fan motor does not spin all the time when engaged because a motor components called carbon brushes, or motor brushes are worn down to the point that they barely have contact with the armature of the motor. It is possible to replace the brushes but more often than not the fix is to replace the entire motor. Regards, Joe
Water is running thru inlet pipe but does not seem
There is a strainer that is on the inlet side of the solenoid valve you may need to pull it out to check if it is clogged. Also when you have the humidistat turned all the way up do you hear the solenoid click and the fan inside running

Most likely you have too much water going to the unit you may have to throttle down the water valve that is tapped into the domestic water source. Also check to see if the tray is in the spud going to the drain

make sure the pad inside is installed correctly there should be a small nipple at the bottom that goes into the drain be sre this is in. make sure the drain is not plugged. humidifier should also be level and if it wasn't installed correctly and is not level it may leak from the excess weater not flowing to drain correctly.

The reason you can not run your humidifier while the blower is off, is because all the humidity would condense almost immediately and rot out your duct work. If you find that the humidity provided during the cycle of your furnace is inadequate, I would suggest purchasing a table top unit, and keep it in the room where you spend the most time. So, the answer to your question is no, you can not run a humidifier while your blower motor is off. Hope this helps.
I have a aprilaire 112. How do you test the
without using a meter? OK take the water line loose from the humidifier that connects to the solnoid. Turn the humidifier on or raise the humidity and water should flow. Keep in mind that if wired correctly the humidifier will only work when your furnace is running although some can be wired to bring on your furnace. You should hear or feel the click if no water comes out you may have no water flow as these valves are pretty durable and seldom fail
No response at all. test won't work, no clicks, please advise
Is a digital Humidistat? if is not, it should click at some point, make sure when you test that the furnace fan is running and heat is on, then check condensation pump is not full. Also check the 2 wirenuts under the humidifier, another thing to check will be for the presence of a current sensing relay, for this you gonna have to open the furnace blower compartment and look for a 2''x1'' box with a U metal clamp, hanging from one of the wires that feed the blower, sometimes, relocating this relay fix the problem, You can bypass this device for testing.
Humidifier operates only in
if it works in test mode its good your humidty may be higher then you think its highest setting is only 45%
My Aprilaire 700 does not seem to be working. The
you can bypass the humidistat by shorting the 2 brown wires on the bottom of the humidifier. just remove the 2 wire nuts and touch the 2 together (just 24v)if it comes on then there is a control problem with the humidistat or wiring if it doesnt come on the control board or transformer may be bad or you dont have 120v to the humidifier on the plug. also make sure your furnace blower is running cause the hum cant come on if its wired properly unless the fan is running. you also may want to go to
www.aprilaire.com and get a maintenace kit from their online store. it comes with pad and new hose along with a couple other things.
I've just recently purchased a
Yes you are correct. The transformer needs contiuious power to run the unit on 24 VDC. Looks like you have done a good job.
When the system calls for heat My Aprilaire 700
do you hear a clicking at the solinoid? grab the solinoid and turn it on to see if its getting voltage, you should feel it energize. you can turn off the water supply and disconnect the water line from the solinoid. there is a black pre screen inside the inlet if you have a tiny flat heat screwdriver insert it into the inlet and turn it out. clean it and retry. you can also make sure the orifice isnt clogged its located on the outlet side of the soliniod. when you remove you will probably have a stream of water come out of the feed tube thru the orifice, even if it has sat all summer. if water comes out you dont have a clogged orifice. donot try to **** out the orifice if its clogged you will need to get a new one fron www.aprilaire.com . you can verify it clogged by after cleaning the prescreen reconnect the water line inlet and turn on humidifier if water comes thru the solinoid with the outlet feed tube not connected then the orifice is clogged. If you clean the prescreen and the orifice is fine ,still no water then you will need a new solinoid you should also be able to purchase from aprilaire. here is links to the solinoid and orifice
