Aprilaire 700 Humidifier - Page 7 Questions & Answers
House is dry though it's quite cold outside and
unless the humidty in your home is higher then 35%. if it is then the humidifier would not run. try turning it up higher and see if it comes on. Do you hear a click in the humidistat? as you turn up the dail when you hear the click is when the humidifier should come on. Also remember your furnace must be running for the humidifier to come on. if you hear the click and the humidifier fan comes on but no water, you may have a clogged inline filter located in the solinoid valve or a bad soliniod. all parts for your humifier can be purchased from
www.aprilaire.com
Unit blows air but doesn't dispence water
If you know you are getting water to the water valve, check the out put tube that goes into the humidifier, in the end of the tube that attaches to the valve the is a metering fitting that has just a pin hole opening to restrict the water flow, it is probably clogged.
Why two 24 Vac on aprilaire 700's control unit?
Okay, I looked up the installation manual online to see exactly what you are working with.
Yes the R anc C need to be hooked to the transformer supplied with the unit. The primary 120v side needs to be hooked into the power coming into the furnace. this can easily be done were the L and N get hooked into your furnace or circuit board on the furnace. This will provide the contiuous power to the unit. Preferably you will hook this after the door switch of the furnace so that you will kill the power toit if you take the blower door off.
The ODT terminals are for the outdoor sensor if you want to hook that up it will vary the humidiy in your home according to the outdoor temperature then.
Now the W/G and Cf terminals. If you have 24v coming from the HUM terminals of your furnace you DO NOT need a second transformer. You must check your furnace manual or check the voltage to them with the furnace blower energized. The HUM terminals will only have power to them when the blower should be running.
If the HUM terminals are 120v then you need to get another transformer and hook up the primary side to the HUM terminals so it is powered only when the the blower is running. Hook the secondary side to the W/G and Cf terminals.
So bottom line is that you need to figure out what voltage your furnace is giving to the HUM terminals and then go from there. Some times the EAC terminals or the ACC terminals will be 24v on the furnace board. Either of them could be used also, as they are only energized when the blower is running also.

Indicator says " change water panel"
Go to
www.aprilaire.com and order the water panel for your type of humidifier . The model # should be located on the humidifier. the box you get from them will have directions on how to change. you will then need to turnyour dial on the humidistat to TEST until the green light BLINKS, this will reset the panel reminder timer.
Humidistat does not turn unit on
check for supply voltage to the humidistat and the humidifier. Also check all electrical connections carefully. It may simply be a bad humidistat. these are non repairable components
The 700 will not start for this season. I called
reason why I asked they sometimes have a problem sensing current and you may need to wind the wire twice instead of one pass. If you jump the wires at the humidistat and the unit turns on its either the stat or you may want to do a relative humidity check on the house to see where your at

House is too dry
remove the cover and replaced the water pad and clean the water guide on top of filter and lower drain case by drain hose, then make sure the fan is operating and the water inlet and outlet lines are lime build-up free
My furnace is not turning on
if you mean your aprilaire humidifier isn't working then open the cover and remove the 4 screws on the fan motor mount inside and check for voltage at the transformer input 120 volts and output 25.5 volts a.c., then check the control board wherever you have it located on the furnace or upstairs and make sure yhe humidity level is set high enough to make the unit run(you will hear the water solenoid click on the furnace below the aprilaire unitwhere the water line is if its working correctly),then check the humidistat on the outside of the building as they can go bad
Humdifier on furnace
I have the exact same problem. At this time I am looking for a new solinoid (part on the bottom) to install. Anyone else having this problem and know where to find replacement parts
