I know of no answer to this except to remove the coating manually to prevent it clogging you filter.

Check all wire connections for tightness. Those solenoids on the humidifiers will eventually need to be replaced. Try turning the dial all the way up to the test position if it is still clicking you may just need a new solenoid.

The filters need to be cleaned my unit tells me to clean the filters about every month and if I dont the unit shuts off to protect it the black stuff is mold which would mean the humidty is to high

Goes up usually. If there is a yellow one it goes up. they usually just mark the top side intended to point upwards. The mesh material has little "u" shaped cups to slow the water from running straight down and out of the drain. Also when you get it going make sure you are not draining more than a liter of water every 5 minutes otherwise you are ready for a new feed tube and orifice to regulate the water flow properly. if you hear the solenoid click then you may have a clogged orifice or prefilter. these are both located near the solenoid. the orifice is usually in the feed tube and the filter is in the inlet of the solenoid. Try the orifice first to see if it is clogged. If that is clear the try loosening the compression nut before the solenoid to see if you have water coming to the humidifier some times if a needle valve was used they get bad also. I would recommend changing the needle valve out and putting in a proper side stop valve. Most municipalities do not allow needle valves per there codes.

Check to you have 24 volts at transformer, if so then the problem could be the humidistat, if not the transformer is bad.

Sounds like the solenoid valve on your humidifier is stuck in the open position. Shut off the water supply to it from the saddle valve on the cold water pipe as a temporary fix.

Check if there is power to the solenoid valve, if ther is , then the solenoid is bad and must be replaced. If there is no power could be a bad humidistat or transformer.

I have seen some humidifiers do this becuase of high water pressure. Try closing and opening the saddle valve and see if it helps at all.

Hello, no the humidifier does not have a power cord. It needs to be wired to a transformer to provide 24 volts to power it.

That problem is in the humidistat or the control that you use to adjust the humidity setting...

The control probably was left at that setting ofr a long period of time and now it will not work at any other setting...
Replacement of the control should not be all that hard...you should be able to do it your self.. just make sure to mark the wires before you remove them...
If you ccan find a control that is exactly the same as what you have it will also make the job easier..

you must have a defective water inlet valve, and its letting water in, just a little.. it maybe dirt in the valve, clogging it.

Hello, check to make sure that the drain line is not blocked, this could cause the water to back up in the humidifier and leak, also make sure the water panel is clean and free of any mineral deposits.

Hello, check to see if you are getting 24 volts to the solenoid valve, if you are and the solenoid does to click to let the water in it must be replaced. If you are not getting 24 volts start at the transformer and work your way toward the solenoid valve to find where the voltage stops.

Hello, if you have 24 volts to the solenoid and the valve does not click open then it must be replaced. Also you can aplly power directly to the solenoid from the transformer and see if it will click open to let the water thru. either way looks like you solenoid is bad.

Water will flow over the filter pad as long as the unit is calling for humidity. once the unit is satisfied the solenoid valve should stop the water flow. if the water continues to flow with out call then solenoid valve has failed open. hope this helps.suppling an owners manual in case you need one.

Mold can really cause problems with humidifiers-
They do need to be serviced, cleaned up, and something like weak bleach used to kill mold spores, -- get it all tidy and clean!
Were you able to clean out the drain line?-- and is it draining now?
And is the float valve shutting off the water flow, before it reaches the overflow drain pipe?
Another concern would be the soaking pad-- Has it been changed recently?
