My Canon T70 is dead, tried new AA batteries but no joy. Is there anything I can do? Appreciate it is an old camera, should I bin it or does it have any vale for spares. Shame camera is spotless .

Check for corrosion in battery area, contacts, etc. If you like using the camera then it will be easier to get a replacement body rather than getting it fixed. 1 hour of a camera tech time is worth more than the camera. Have a look on ebay. You could also just sell it to a collector or for spares as 'non working' on ebay. The lenses might be worth something but wont fit modern EOS camera.

Aperture lever stuck to wide open

On a film camera, the internel electronics determine the shutter speed and aperture. The camera computer figures out a higher shutter speed against the aperture speed. You have a lever on your lens that, when mounted on the camera, will keep the aperture open until you fire. That allows viewing in the brightest light. Then that aperture arm is allowed to close to what the exposure setting the camera determines when you click the shutter. You should be able to take off the lens and easily move the aperture arm and have it snap closed. If it takes a few seconds to close.. then the lens has oil on the aperture blades or the grease inside the lens is bad. These days, unless is it a very expensive lens it's replacement time. Canon lenses will fit any Canon (except Fd) film or digital camera.

The film won't re-wind in

No. If it will not auto rewind you must in a change bag or completely dark closet open the camera remove the cartridge then manually rewind the film. All that in complete darkness. Then get the camera fixed.

All pictures have blue tint with T70 35mm SLR

Silly question, is there a filter over the lens? Some folks when using use daylight film in tungsten lighting will use a blue filter. Is the film expired past a few years? If those are all no, then it may be your lab, my suggestion is to contact them. With film there is little to go wrong, you shoot they develop. The magic occurs during developing and printing.

Powers on, wont load film, beeps constantly, Can't select a mode,

I had a similar problem today with my camera. I'm not an expert on Cannon cameras or any cameras for that matter, but this is what I did to fix the problem.

I removed the bottom cover(has 6 screws i believe) carefully sliding the cover up starting near the battery cover. Holding the camera still I checked what gears I could to make sure they were free, but one small gear that moves up and down was stuck. I applied a very small amount of force to the gear to free it, reattached the cover and all the screws, and BAM! I was back to taking pictures.

Hopes this helps.

p.s if you can't find one of the screws its under the battery cover flap :).

Scott, Not too hard, but give it a sharp rap on a counter top, this will some time free up stuck mechanisms in cameras. "I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. Check out some of my other posts if you need more tips and info."

Error 70 is something related to the data being captured and/or written to the memory card is detected as being problematic in some way... this may not be a simple memory card error, although of course that can't be ruled out. Try re-formatting the memory card in the camera.

My flash unit seems to be functional, but won't work when taking pictures with the T70.

Is this a canon dedicated flash? Does it fire but you don't get a picture or is most of it blank? Try clean off the hot shoe contact and the dedicated contacts with an ink eraser. It may be that there is gunk/corrosion of the hot shoe contacts on the body. If it is not a dedicated flash you have to set the camera to the flash sync speed on manual. On the model it would be something like a 1/60th of a second. Is the flash hot shoe cracked?

Lens mount is shaky

remove front cover (four screws, one front, two sides, and one bottom), plus loosen two screws holding door latch plate and lift plate up slightly so front cover will lift free (plate has tabs that fit in slots in front cover. Do not lift up too high, just enough to slide cover free). Tighten four metal mount screws and re-attach front cover

Canon T70 not taking photos!?!? Help

Oops my bad.

It could be a jammed shutter. If you take the lens out and the film out. Take a few pictures and see if the shutter moves. If there is no movement I would take it into a camera shop and take a look at it. Unless the shutter spring is busted, it could be an easy fix.
