I purchased a Quantum Turbo sc battery pack

If you have the camera on continuous then it may be that the charging is not keeping up with the shutter. Check the recycle time on the flash and compare with the burst speed on the camera. The burst speed on the 5D is fairly rapid.

Quantum Turbo Battery pack not enough power.

Load 4AA with Energizer Lithium Batteries. Set 580EX II's function to 12-0 and 05-0. Make sure 5D's is not set to HSS. No white dome parked on flash. No bounce. Set camera to "M" with max sync if you like, but 60 is fine. Set F-Stop no greater than F5.6 Set ASA/ISO no lower than 200 but not over 1000. If you need more assistance, contact Alzo Digital, CT, USA. Asks for service & repair from ATG.

Canon Speedlite 580 EX (mark 1) 6 years of

The capacitor (neck) is no longer hold a charge or charging circuit is going out on a extended breaks. Save your money and buy ATG's Godox TT685c. If you buys two, then you got ATG wireless radio ETTL II flashes. It would cost over $1,000.00+ USD to buy two Canon 600EX II-RT just to do the same with two ATG's.

Flash not firing, pilot light not on but display is fine

Hi John, If your problem has not been fixed or a solution not found yet then you may consider this. Flash units are built with many tiny parts; thus, when a single component malfunction, it will render the whole unit useless. You mentioned the pilot light is not working - that indicates that power is not flowing through the unit. Check the filament of the unit - if you notice some brownish stain on either end of the tube, it indicates the filament has burned out. Changing the type of batteries won't make any difference. the only option you have now is to service the flash unit

My flash fires before the shutter opens when in

Are you sure those are not pre-flashes being sent out? What mode are you in, Master, if so it is sending pre-flash to other flash.

The flash unit fires in every position unless it's

Just a guess work. This may be caused by a mechanical fault. A dislodgement of an electronic component that is hanging loose. When the unit sits up-right position, the part may probably slips down, breaking contact with the circuitry but it can maintain contact with the circuitry in every other position. You could open up the unit and check to see if anything is loose.

Is not working properly

A good possibility is the zoom head is causing the clicking sound. As we zoom the flash, the inside of the head moves to the back and forward. Gently tap it a few times see if that helps. My guess is it needs servicing.

Zoom flashing

This will come on if you manually activated it on the back of the flash. It's for the times when you want to manually provide wide or tele coverage.

580EX

be careful. examine the flash for physical damages. if it appear to be intact, you could try turning it on and see if you can fire with the test button. remember, this flash is high-voltage. do not attempt to fix it yourself. if it's not working, you have to service it.

580 ex zoom does not work properly and make a noise

Hello, When you manually zoom does it make the sound, or on the camera? One thing to try is change out the batteries, maybe there is not enough juice to work as needed. If doing that does not help, then I would contact Canon; the flash may need repair. 1 (800) 652-2666 Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 midnight. 580 ex repair

If resetting the camera to factory default settings WHILE the flash is mounted on the hot shoe and turned on doesn't help, you may have physical damage/failure with the flash and it will need to go in for repair. This sounds likely if you've had an ongoing problem since you got the flash. You could also try checking the ETTL sensor to make sure it's not damaged or blocked by lint, check the flash on another camera to see if the problem persists, and check the hot shot mount on the camera and the flash to make sure they're not damaged and solid.
