Canon PowerShot 600 Digital Camera - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Circular Spots
When shooting with flash in a location where there are many suspended particles, such as in a dusty area or on a snowy day, the image may contain white circles as shown in the picture below.
Why does this happen?
If the flash fires when a suspended particle floats right in front of the lens, the reflection of the flash from the particle appears more intensely than that of the subject, as the particle is much closer to the lens than the subject.
Therefore, the reflection of the flash turns out in the image and causes an effect such as that shown in the sample image above.
The closer the lens and strobe are located, allowing suspended particles to be exposed to more light, the more frequently this effect can occur.
How can I avoid this effect?
Ideally, it is best to shoot in locations where there are very few suspended particles. If not, you can use following method to prevent this effect.
a) Avoid using flash by lighting the area as much as possible.
b) If your camera has a zoom function, shoot at a wide angle.
c) If you can attach an external flash, use the external flash to distance the flash from the lens.
How do I attach the wrist strap to the Canon PowerShot D30 camera
The wrist strap has a thin loop on one end. Thread this thin section (like threading a needle) through the strap hole. (It's on the left side of the camera. There are two openings with a bar over the top of the center of them at the bottom corner of the camera body.) Start threading from the middle of the body of the camera and push the strap towards the bottom of the unit. You may need to twist the loop to narrow it and keep it tight. Once you have this narrow loop through the camera, open up the loop and slide the thick material through the center of this thin loop. Pull the wrist strap until the thin loop tightens around the bar.
This is shown on page 12 of the D30 manual. The manual is available from Canon support on the Powershot page:

I hope this helps.

(Many lanyard straps for electronic gear work the same way. Threading the narrow section under that bar does require decent near point vision. People who are far-sighted may need to wear bifocals or ask someone younger to assist.)
LOST THE VOLUME ON VIDEO, HOW TO FIX?
Do you mean when playing video back on the camera? If so, when the video is playing, press on the top of the wheel, the part with the triangle pointing upwards (up-arrow). You should see the small volume level indicator get an increasing number of bars and the volume will increase.
