How do i turn off the flash on cannon power shot
The little lightning bolt on the right side of the function switch (3:00) gets you to the options. If you keep pushing it you will get the different settings. In the manual on Page 68 the different settings are given for the different icons.

Thanks for using Fixya. Happy New Year.
What does
Yes card locked means litrarily "card is locked." So you must unlock it.
Eject the memory card and take good look it. On one of the edges you will see a very tiny "latch." Slide it to the other side, and the card is unlocked. One position is the locked position while the other is the opened position.

It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate.
Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

The lens and remains open and zoomed, but will not
sounds like the battery isnt given it enough umphs to turn it on and off. try going into the compartment and pull up the spring alittle to make better connection on the battery terminal. or it could be the motor to the camera is wearing out and needs replacing. the beeping sounds like the battery issue tho.
How can I turn the flash off on a cannon power
Your menus will have options to be able to turn off the flash in certain modes.
The camera also has external buttons which will turn the flash on or off. Read your user manual.
The button which has the SET inside has four selectors. The right selector has a flash on/off button to turn the flash on or off. The flash usually will flash when set to flash all the time and not in AUTO mode. The AUTO mode may not allow you to turn off the flash. You probably have to choose another mode to allow the flash to be turned off.

How do I change the LCD screen please?
Very easy.
Remove the batery. Remove the case screws and pull the case apart. Where the flat ribbon cables connect to the main board, carefully release the clamps on the board end plugs. The plugs don't come off, the ribbon just comes out of them. Carefully remove the screen. It has double stick foam in a few spots. Put the new screen in, reconnect the ribbon cables and put the case back together. 30 minutes max.
MacBook Pro won't recognize canon powershot SD400
Hello. You need to probably reinstall the drivers. but first you have to remove the drivers that are all ready installed. first unplug your usb cord. then to remove the drivers allready installed,, on your computer, press start, then when the box open's up, then right click on computer. another box will open up. then left click at the bottom of that box on properties. another box will open up, then click on device manager. after you click on device manager another box will open up with all your devices. look for the previous camera you had installed. it might be under imaging devices. once you locate that, then right click on it. then choose uninstall. Make sure you have your new software loaded in your cd/dvd rom drive. after it is done uninstalling, just restart your computer. at the bottom right of your screen, it should say, found new device, it will ask you from where do you want to load the new drivers for it. click on the drive that contains the software. it then will load your new drivers up. It then should communicate with your camera. Hope this helps. Ron
In a high light, the photos come out washed out.
Unless you had your finger over the sensor or there is something blocking it, the light sensor is failing or has failed for physical or software issues. You can use your manual mode in a pinch.
Date stamp on my ixus 50
The Date/Timestamp is only available in Postcard Mode, so push FUNC/SET, scroll down and set the size to Postcard.

Beeps repeatedly, lense won't retract...won't take pictures?
Hi Jeanice21, I just posted the same problem a few minutes ago with my SD400. I followed a few steps of the suggested solutions and here's what worked for me.
1) take apart the front and back by unscrewing the six screws holding the camera together
2) on the left of the flash, there are two little retangular holes with grooved dials in them
3) using a little flat head screwdriver, push up or down to turn the grooves while power up in the movie or capture mode
4) the lens retracted at this point and my camera started working again. Good luck!
