Hi, It's likely a combination of the two, it's possible that part of the memory card has started to act up due to age which causes the camera to not be able to read it or the camera is having issues reading files written within certain parts of the memory card. Do you have that problem with another memory card?

My eos350d camera has stopped

Annmelba,

I think you'll find the EOS to be a fairly durable series. Just to cover your bases, I would clean the inside battery contacts with a Q-tip and some alcohol. That said, I suspect you may have to take your camera to an authorized repair facility - a quote should run you about $60 if the device is out of warranty and depending on the nature of the problem, the repair could cost considerably less than a new camera.

Thank you.

I have a Canon EOS

I hope you have solved this problem if not there is two things that have happened to me one was that I had unlocked the lens and it turned a little which shut off the communications between the camera ad lens. The other is where the gold contacts between the camera and lens became slightly dirty with a hazy this is easily fixed with a DIY. using a pencil eraser gently polish the contacts between the camera and lens both sets of contacts, be careful not to get dirt into the camera or lens when you are doing this. Don't use a puffer or any air.

My canon rebel xt digital

If you haven't got this working yet let me offer a few suggestions.
It may be that the computer you are using has gone through an auto update or you have changed software. The Rebel XT is old enough that the camera firmware may not be compatible to the updated computer software. You may be able to update the camera firmware by going to the Canon site and download the updates they are free.

Or you can step around the camera by using a Memory Card reader. The reader is plugged into a USB port and the computer looks at it as an external Hard Drive or Mass Storage device.

You picture files can be downloaded to the computer Hard Drive and then the memory card needs to be "ejected" don't just pull it out the computer doesn't like it.

Once the memory card is placed back in the camera the memory card needs to be formatted and you are good to go again.

Hi,

I have two suggestions for this issue.

First, check the properties of the shortcut icon that you are using to launch the app.

It should be:

"C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" --console

Start in:

"C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50"
In case this does not resolve the issue, un-install the program.

Then when you reinstall, please ensure that you install it in the non-default directory.

If you require any further assistance, please comment and let me know, and I will be happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

My Rebel XT is taking

This is a difficult problem to resolve without servicing the camera. When the picture is taken, the CCD relays the information to the memory card, controlled by the processor. Any kind of oxidation on any contact, such as the SD contacts inside the camera, can affect the process. About the only thing you can try is to clean the SD contacts inside the camera, using an electrical contact cleeaner, in the hopes of restoring it. A qtip or other narrow piece of cleaning substance may have to be employed to get the contacts clean.
If none of this works, you can contact a local camera repair shop or Canon Support to see what it will take to get the problem fixed.
Hope it's just the SD contacts, and good luck.

It is possible if you haven't used the camera for a while that the contacts inside the battery compartment need to be cleaned. This can be done with a q-tip and some alcohol.

I can't import photos into

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

I having canon eos

Hello

The issues you are running into are indicative of two possible issues.

First, the memory card may simply be bad. But before you purchase or try another memory card, you need to look for the second possible issue. The second issue, which is typcially more common, is that inside the card slot on the camera, there are pins, it is possible that one or more of these pins has become bent or damaged. If you look inside you can usually see a pin or pins out of alignment or bent over. If that is the case, the camera will need to go in for service.

Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could means several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....

Here's what you can try:

Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.

Error 99 Canon 350D

Usually this error comes up when the golden contacts between the camera body and the lens are dirty or defective. You can try cleaning it with appropriate contacts solution and a microfiber cloth or simply by scrubbing them with an eraser (be careful though not to let fall any gunk or gum dust into the camera). Never touch those contacts directly with your fingers.

Another culprit may be a defective CF card, try a different one and see if something changes.

If this doesn't solve the issue and your camera is still under warranty, i suggest you to have is serviced from canon. When out of warranty solving this issue is going to cost you several hundred dollars.
Let me know if this helped, best luck

My flash isn't popping up

The "shoe thing" people were referring to is the camera's hot-show. This is where powered attachments (usually a flash) is mounted on the camera. The metal plate on top of the camera is the hot-shoe. It should look something like this: http://a.img-dpreview.com/reviews/CanonEOS450D/images/hotshoe.jpg
However, it is likely not an issue with the actual hot-shoe. It is most likely an issue of your camera's mechanical mechanism for releasing the flash being out of alignment. Try wiggling the "manual release" button for the flash to the left and right and see if it will catch on the mechanism. Then try pushing the button to see if the flash pops up.
You can try gently opening the flash manually with your finger, sometimes it is simply a buildup of dirt and grim blocking the mechanism and once this is cleared, it should work normally.
If you get the flash to pop up but it still will not fire, try the below method: Sometimes the camera can be confused into thinking that an external flash is attached to the body, thus making it ignore the internal flash. This can be resolved by moving the microswitch under the rails of your hot-shoe into the up position (it should be down when you see it) using a toothpick. You can access this after opening the flash up manual, as described in the previous paragraph. Here is an image showing where to find the switch: http://www.business-improvement.org/fixes/canon_350d_rebelXT_flash.htm

I cannot get my new laptop to recognize my canon

Best fix for this is to purchase a Card Reader and step around downloading from the camera. A card Reader is looked at by the computer as an external storage device. You place the memory card into the card reader and down load from there. Don't forget to stop or safely disconnect or eject before removing your memory card. Once you have placed the memory card back into the camera Format the memory card to give the camera a fresh clean surface to work with again.

What is happening is that the firmware of the camera is no longer compatible with the "new" software from the computer.

Even though you may not have updated the software in the computer if it's hooked to the Internet then sometimes there is auto updated and these are what sometimes causes the problem with incompatibility.

Also if you haven't updated the camera Firmware now would be a good time to look see what Canon has to offer as free updates in Firmware for your camera it's a free update.

You just got the camera? You do realize this camera was manufactured in 2005? Anyway, this model does not have "live view" so you cannot see the image as you can on a point-and-shoot camera.
