make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in or you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall hope this helps if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem Close all open programs

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose DeleteAfter deleting the keys, close the registry editorReboot your computerOpen My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. Sorry it will only read DVD's not burn Them..

Please check if the CD/DVD driver is installed properly:
To check:
1. Click Start - Right-click My Computer Choose Properties
2. Click Hardware then Device manager
3. Check if there is a yellow question mark on CD/DVD
If Yes - Reinstall CD/DVD using WINDOWS UPDATE

1. Try to check for loose connection between your IDE cable and IDE Socket
2. Check if the 12V Cord from the Power supply is properly connected to device
3. Check MASTER or SLAVE setting:
Normally the IDE Hard disk will be your PRIMARY and the CD/DVD will be your secondary/slave -----

in any os
since all Operating systems detect cd/dvd combo drives

i have samsun CDRW/DVD-ROM only DVD disk cannot play.

I assume you are looking for a codec so you can play/view a DVD movie.

Which operating system of Windows are you using to burn them?

If you are using Windows XP you will need a program such as Nero to burn them. The send to DVD doesn't work in XP. It will only work on Cds. One should have came with the DVD.
