Does Samsung support think you should be able to run an SRP270 with 350 driver, please?

You should be able to right-click and change setting to online status. Our not, contact manufacturer.

itecghana, printing slow is probably an issue of the interface type (serial, parallel, usb, ethernet...) and not the printer itself. The Bixolon 350 has a self test printout capability (turn on printer while holding down the feed button) which'll demonstrate the print speed capability of the printer.
My guess is you have a serial interface (COM port), serial is notoriously slow when printing via any windows driver.
If the printer you have is a 350, one solution is to change the interface card on the printer from Serial to USB. The part number of the USB interface card is IFA-U Type, can buy one for about 35 bucks online.

Are you a developer? OPOS is pretty much a plug and play driver. there isnt much you can change on it besides the port and how you name the printer. I suggest contacting Bixolon directly

If you still have original set up disc, advise you reload. New drivers don't always kickin. Backup then try reloading?

If it's a thermal printer, it doesn't use toner, just thermal printer paper (Like fax paper), It's a paper that turns black on heat contact. It doesn't require any ink.

Change the setting in your software - or uninstall the printer.... then reinstall it...

You will need to follow below process.
Print quality settings always affects on print resolution and toner usage.
to change print quality setting:
1. go to Start/settings/control panel/printers
2. then go to printer's properties.
3. go to paper/quality TAB. and select the setting that you want to use. you will get following options.
a) 1200 dpi: This setting uses ProRes 1200 to provide fine-line detail at 1200 x 1200 dpi.
b) 1200 dpi effective output quality: This setting uses ProRes 1200 to provide fine-line detail at 1200 x 1200 dpi.
c) 600 dpi: This setting provides 600 x 600 dpi output with Resolution Enhancement technology (REt) for improved text. (this is what you may need to get)
d) Economode: this settings use less toner of your printer. This is useful for mostly draft printings. You can turn this button on freely of other printing-quality settings.

Select the needed settings. Test a print.
And if it is perfect you wont be charge to give recommendation...lol

This was originally a Samsung printer, and they had plans to release a Linux driver. However after some corporate games it's now owned by Bixolon, and everything Linux has been axed.

Hi Fieldridle, Im guessing you are connected to the cash register via serial, if so I'd try checking all the serial settings on both the printer and register so they match one another. Next, check that the register is sending the right type of emulation or printer language.

I've heard of this kinds of issue in cases where an adaptor cable (usb-serial, usb-parallel) causes this. But if this isnt you perhaps you can try reloading the printer's newest driver.

You are correct with the conflict, although, it's a difference in drivers, i think what has happened is when you share a printer with xp, it installs the driver from the pc with the driver and printer attached, and as it is attached to a win98 pc, the full functions are probably unavailable,unlike an xp local driver.
