Are you using original HP ink cartridges or refilled ink? If it is original HP ink then the evidence points towards the printhead failure. However, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix: NOTE: Please skip any steps that you might have performed already. Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON. Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer. Press and hold the printer's power button for 15 seconds. The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn't power ON then please manually power it ON. If the error persists then please perform a firmware update on the printer via this link.Please restart the printer once after the firmware update. If the issue persists then I suggest to reset the printer. Resetting the printer restores the printer to its original factory settings. Wild guess: uninstall your printer, remove drivers, look if new drivers are avaulable at HP for your printer and your operating system version and reinstall the printer.

If paper is jammed and you can't take it out, don't force it. You may damage your printer, Take it to a repair service, they know how to dismount it and remove obstruction without dmamage.

In a laserjet this issue is caused by a bad formatter which kills the motor on the scanner. It is possible that the home sensor is not working in the scanner but more likely the repair is going to be more than they are worth. Unfortunately officejet printers are pretty much disposable once they break.
