Britax Boulevard Questions & Answers
My Britax Boulevard will not
Just had to completely take ours apart & wash everything.... putting it back together I found the 33lb recline weight limit & since our guy is 32 figured I'd move it upright & had the same problem.... googled & never found an answer..... but figured it out myself.
Flip it over & there are 4 "screws" on the bottom - they are hex head so you'll need the right screwdriver (I have a kid with interchangeable heads that had the right one)... unscrew them, pull the handle & manually snap it into place - it's like it gets off a bit when reclined for a long time. Once I did that & it snapped in I put the bottom plate & 4 screws back on... presto!
Hopefully you didn't give up already since this is a few months old of a question.
Whe you adjust the tightness
Have you removed the car seat from the car and made sure that none of the harness is caught up anywhere? I've had that happen before. I then completely extend the harness and then retract after to make sure all is smooth. If you can't see anything caught up, and you can't extend and retract freely I would make a phone call to Britax directly (888-427-4829) in case something is malfunctioning.
Is the back supposed to be in a fixed position or
There are multiple fixed recline positions. It sounds like your seat is not catching properly once the recline bar is pulled. Please contact Britax (888-427-4829) and make them aware of the situation.

I washed my carseat and
after giving several tug-and-release pulls to get it as tight as u can, pull the strap, and then push down the adjuster lever while still
holding the strap tight. Then pull again and push down the lever
again. You usually just have to do that 2-3 times and it Should be nice and
tight.
Proper Installation
Forward-Facing Installation--LATCH (for children more than 1 year of age and 20 pounds)
-
Step 1
Place
the car seat in the vehicle in the forward-facing position at a LATCH
("Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children") location in the rear seat.
Loosen the lower LATCH straps and the upper tether strap.
-
Step 2
Plug
the lower LATCH components into the LATCH hooks in your vehicle. Refer
to your owner's manual for help if you cannot find the LATCH hooks.
-
Step 3
Clip
the tether strap to your vehicle's tether hook. Again, if you cannot
find the tether hook, refer to your car's owner's manual.
-
Step 4
Tighten the LATCH straps and the tether strap. The car seat should not move more than an inch in any direction.
Forward-Facing Installation--Seat Belt (for children more than 1 year of age and 20 pounds)
-
Step 1
Place
the car seat on the vehicle seat in the forward-facing position. Open
the forward-facing lock-off clip on the side of the car seat away from
the buckle. Loosen the tether strap.
-
Step 2
Pull
the seat belt out and thread it through the seat belt slots, over the
LATCH bar. Fasten the buckle, making sure that it clicks shut firmly.
-
Step 3
Put
your knee into the car seat to push it into the seat of the car. Pull
on the lap section of the belt to take up any slack. Pull on the
shoulder section of the belt to continue to eliminate any slack in the
belt. As you do this, thread the shoulder belt portion through the
lock-off farthest from the buckle.
-
Step 4
Shut
the lock-off on the shoulder belt, being sure that it clicks shut
firmly. Pull and push on the car seat to be sure that it does not move
more than an inch in any direction.
-
Step 5
Fasten the tether strap to the vehicle's tether hook. Pull the strap to tighten it.
Rear-Facing Installation--LATCH (for children under 33 pounds)
-
Step 1
Place
the seat in the rear-facing position at the LATCH location. Loosen the
LATCH and the tether straps. Fully recline the car seat.
-
Step 2
Clip the LATCH components into your vehicle's LATCH hooks. Check your owner's manual if you cannot locate the LATCH hooks.
-
Step 3
Install
the D-hook under the front seat as directed in the Britax Boulevard's
user's manual. Clip the tether strap to the D-hook.
-
Step 4
Tighten
the LATCH and tether straps while pushing the car seat into the vehicle
seat. Push and pull the car seat in all directions to make sure that it
does not move more than an inch in any direction.
Rear-Facing Installation--Seatbelt (for children under 33 pounds)
-
Step 1
Place
the car seat in the rear-facing position. Fully recline the car seat.
Loosen the tether hook. Open the rear-facing lock-off on the side
opposite where the seat will be buckled.
-
Step 2
Pass the seat belt through the rear-facing belt path. Be sure that you pass it behind the crotch buckle of the car seat.
-
Step 3
Fasten
the seat belt. Make sure that it clicks shut. While leaning on the car
seat, pull the lap portion of the belt, then the shoulder portion of
the belt to eliminate any slack in the belt. When doing this, be sure
to pass the shoulder belt section through the lock-off.
-
Step 4
Close
the lock-off on the shoulder belt. Move the car seat back and forth to
be sure that it is installed tightly enough. The seat should not move
more than an inch in any direction.
-

user's instructions. Clip the tether hook to the D-strap and tighten.
good luck
I cant remember how to take the straps off to
Look in the back, make sure the strap that goes underneath in the middle is loose, Then unhook the double-hook device that holds both belts. Be good idea to take some pics before removing them completely so it is easier to put back together.
2 in a Ford Escape?
You could, but they would both be on the side seats, which could interfere with the front seats and where you like them positioned.
I would definately do the Forward Facing one behind the driver, as it gives the driver more room to adjust his/her seat.
Does it only work with the LATCH system?
YES JUST MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE REGULAR SEAT BELT FROM YOUR CAR PROPERLY TO HOLD DOWN YOUR CAR SEAT THE LATCH IS LIKE A SECONDARY SAFETY FOR YOUR CHILD SEAT ITS UP TO YOU...
Can you remove the headrest on this seat?
You should never use a seat in a way that it is not intended. I would have to know the specific model you have, but the headrests are adjustable up and down and are intended to protect the sides of the child's head in an accident. If the foam underneath is broken, you should contact Britax and they can send you a replacement foam. Per their website: The seat is still structurally safe to use as long as the foam is positioned in the same place in which it was intended. Sometimes taping the foam in place is suggested in order to prevent it from wiggling. Taping the foam does not compromise the safety of the car seat. Phone: 1-888-427-4829 (toll free)
If calling from outside the USA or Canada: 1-704-409-1699
Hope this helps.
