Hello and welcome to Fixya.
You need to make sure that the computers network settings are on automatic.
Lets start with that. Press start, then control panel, then classic view (optional) Find Network connections from the list. Double click to open.
Now you should be on Network connections window, you should see the wireless card, and its name somewhere on that page when it is connected to the computer.
Right click on the wireless and select properties. Then on the page that opens click on internet protocol (TCP/IP) and then click on properties.
Make sure all the settings there are on automatic. then click OK, and again, then you can close the window, and try reconnecting to the wireless network.
If you are still unable to get online, restart the computer. If you are still unable to get online. The issue is most likely not the computer, the issue could be the wireless router.
do you have any other computers in the house that use wireless, do they work?
You may have to connect to the configuration page of the wireless router and make sure its mode is routing, not bridging.
But I would need more information about your network, its set up, what devices there are, your internet type, etc to give a proper response and how to solve the issue.
