Edimax BR-6114Wg Router (BR6114WG) Questions & Answers
My NAT type is set to strict, how do i change
You are trying to open the NAT on the router for X-box.
For this you will need to reduce the MTU settings on the router to 1365.
You will also need to trigger some ports on the router.
For this you will need to open the router set up page.
Router set up page is the page where you can change the settings of the router

My laptop can't connect with my wlan edimax router
Reset everything including the Hard reset (a small probably hidden button you must press for 15 seconds) you will find somewhere on the wireless router. I trust your laptop is capable of connecting wirelessly???and you have done this before???
What is the difference between wireless router and
You can a wireless router that does the same thing as a LAN router, but you may have a cable LAN router that doesn't host clients wirelessly.
The basic funtion of both is to correctly route network traffic for the intended recipient. The information can be from computer to computer or across intranets (normally high-end switches are used instead) or from the internet through a modem (modulator demodulator) to computers connected to the router (wirelesslor cable).
The difference being, the cable LAN router is connected by a ethernet cable and is capable of faster nominal transfer speeds and a wireless is able to transfer information across a 2.4GHz radio signal.
Don't knock the speed of the wifi, though. I quite happily stream movies from my server to my TV through a wireless connection.
Always disconnect

Problem after firmware update Edimax BR-6114Wg
Hi Fklco,
Why are you connecting the WAN,, (the internet modem cable), to the standard ports? It should have a WAN port, for the cable from the modem, and a LAN for the cables to the computer?
On the other hand, if it is working, I would leave well enough alone, :D
Does not bridge LAN and Wireless
ya need to check the ip add setting of acces point , as well as ssid , channel n region too.
once ya log into the the routers configuration page , check that yor comp is getting the ip of same range/class from yor router, it might be liil different in the last number , no worries till then.... n assign the same ssid , region and security setting - like the secuirty key for wless to yor wless comps also. n calso check your comps are on dynamic ip settings. however if ya want to use the staic ip , then give yor comps a staic ip in the same range as yor router' range. n check the wzc service of yor windows xp or above system. it should be enable n running n should be usingthe same security key for wirless connection. or chat with me on samrat101, yahoomssgr or msn messnger

Issues with the BR-6114WG
Depending on how your router is set up, it may be a DNS problem.
Start from beggining and make sure your router is enabled for wireless, wep or other encryption is off, DHCP is enabled for assigning IP addresses automatically.
Run this programme on pc's, click Start>run then type
ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.
Clean out your old cached and temp files.
Go to your wireless adapters properties and ensure that they are set to obtain ip address automatically in TCP/IP settings.
Restart systems and hopefully you are away.
Every time you use windows to repair the connection it will try to re-new IP addreses, but it won't be the one your router uses, so don't use it, as you will lose connection to the router.
Wireless connection keeps falling
It may be just a problem of the signal bouncing around and your laptop is struggling at times to find the signal.
Some earlier laptops don't have a wireless booster built in the screen.
Go to your laptops' web site and see if there are any updated drivers for your wireless card.
If still unhappy with results purchase a USB wireless dongle and dissable wireless card, it may have a better reception area, or purchase a signal booster that works in conjunction with your wireless router.
