No wireless internet - problem with belkin router

From one of the "wired" computers, connect to the router's built-in web-server, and run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard", in order to configure your wireless network, choosing an 'SSID' and a "password" for your network.

Can't download forward or reply on my email ?

it could be a virus or some setting.. it's unlikely it's your router unless you disable or closed ports like 110 which is pop3 server port.
I would suggest to make sure you're virus free first (which is a most) and then try to do a restore with a previous restore point. also check your firewall and make sure your email client is configured as an exception.

if you did change something in your router, check the firewall configuration and if you dont remember what you changed, just reset your router to defaults. You may need to reconfigure wireless security after that

good luck!

Hi i have been trying to set a password for my

The address fro your Belkin 54G wireless router setup should be: http://192.168.2.1/
I would bypass the WiFi link/security and connect your PC/Laptop to be used for configuring the router via the Ethernet cable connection plug in Port 1 of the router.
If you do not have the password, you will need to reset the router to 'factory default' by using a small reset button on the back: you need a pen to push it down. Hold it down for about 10 seconds and it will put the router to factory default settings.
You will then need to reconfigure the router using the Belkins setup CD that came with the router (or download it before hand from Belkins support site): this will normally set it up automatically for you.
Hope it helps!

hello,
typical setup: make sure everything is switched OFF, then, you will plug one side of the wire to the "WAN" port on your belkin and the other side of the same wire will go in the "LAN" port on the cable/DSL modem/device.
then you would take another wire and this time you will plug one side of the wire in the "LAN" port on your belkin router and the other side of the wire into your desktop/laptop computer.
1.first power on the cable/DSL modem, wait 20 - 30 seconds for the modem to go in ready state. 2. power on the belkin and wait another 15- 20 seconds for it to become ready. 3. finally power up your PC and everything should be good to go.
Note: if router is new and came with setup CD run that in the computer and follow instructions.

let me know if there are any issues.
Hope this helps, please vote.

Amar Sondhi

How do I put security on my Belkin 54g router

You set your security by enabling WEP.

When you get in the interface to configure WEP, set a pass phrase. Write down the 3 numeric keys it generates. Then connect to the wireless using your laptop, etc. When it asks for your passkey, do not enter the pass-phrase; enter one of the three keys that were generated by the router. That's the biggest mistake people make when trying to get wireless to work.

I keep losing my internet signal

you could try changing the channel of your router. What usuaully happens is if there are a few people around you on the samw channel, it can cause disruption.

Dial into the router by putting its IP address in Internet explorer and you will see an option to change the channel in settings. Anyone will do but avoid 6 or 11, probably the most common that other people use.

Good Luck!
