Hello Carol; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. in answer to your question, Asbestos was never used in refrigerators. The best insulator is air with the lowest heat transfer coefficient. This is why your hot water tank has a double tube. The foam coming out was not asbestos. It was just build up from years passed, Shell coatings or a leakage in your weep hole. I serviced a 30 year old refrigerator. There was no asbestos. I have torn liners out of units 20 years old for repair. There was no asbestos. What manufacturers use as a liner is open cell sponge rubber. Please do not worry. You are fine.

Your control board is reacting to a surge in power. Unplug the unit for 5 minutes then replug and follow normal starting procedures. If that does not work think about buying a new unit.

If you hear a click every few minutes and a buzz / click then nothing, it would sound as if your compressor is gone, the water problem is the defrost drain pipe is blocked

The system is either blocked or you have a gas leak but i would expect it is blocked and the only way to find out is to get a refrigeration engineer to check it for you, but explain the problem to him first and make sure he can help before you spend money.

Hi Joanne Wow, Is that an open question..... How long is a piece of string... I get what you mean though... Only your Engel Service Dept knows for sure. They see the returns. Does it have a compressor or is it based on Heating Elements like an RV Fridge. If you can hear the compressor running inside, you will know. Compressors don't like being tipped on their side. I have 1 fridge & 1 Freezer in the back storage room that have been running for thirty years. But I don't think they make em like that any more. Look after it. Keep the vents clear & hope for the best. Cheers

If the gas is not passing the press down valve your valve is faulty and should be replaced you should also replace the thermo coupler which goes down to sense the flame in case the flame goes out it shuts off the gas. You should not attempt to replace this valve yourself and should get a qualified gas engineer.

Goggle to find out the company that built it and see if they will send you a copy or if its available for download. This is a common problem with private sales without all the manuals that come with it. Sometimes you have to look up each appliance or model. Start with a phone number to the manufacturer and work from there. Also you can find someone that is selling one like yours and call them to see if they can send you a copy from their manuals.

Empty fridge and if possible put steam down vent behind the cover in the freezer section. or hot water. it will com out in the fridge so be carefull. this unblocks the aif feed from the freezer to the fridge section. also make sure the fan is working.

Possibly something was spilled and it got to the door gasket. Clean the door gasket area with warm soapy water. In the door there is nothing critical to the system operation that should cause the condition you have.

Check the wheels as they may either turn to go up and down or there may be a screw that does this adjustment. Place a level on top of unit. Get one direction level then do the other. May only have to adjust one wheel/leg to get unit level.

You have problem with the motor compressor,it is trying to start, but cannot for one reason or another, could be siezed motor, sticking start relay.etc'
It is stopping and starting due to the motor overload device cutting in and out. it acts as a safety device.
This is usually associated with a serious malfunction..Plz rate my solution.
