I have rebooted several times during the reinstallation of the software. I also tried different USB, but no luck! Could it be something with the USB driver anyway? The system says the drivers are ok though.. Does anybody know the life expectancy of the batteries to this remote? I don't think it is the batteries though, because the red light on the remote is bright.

You may have the diode loose or a crystal some use on the board.look aside from back in bottom of battery compartment for more screws.Many of the remotes even with screws are snapped together--look at the seam in the side around the remote--start at the bottom on one side and probe with a small screwdriver--insert into the seam and slide to try to free the first locking tab--pull on it(the case halves) and slide the driver slowly along the seam to unsnap all the tabs.You may cause some slight chips or scratches in the process and that is normal--as you get the tabs released pull up on cover until the unit comes open.Inside there are generally the two cover sides, the board, and the rubber like mat with all the buttons.Take your time as only other choice is to buy a new remote which I suspect will be expensive.Let me know if get it apart or have problems doing this.

Hey I just now got the darn thing opened. Placed remote in left hand then with left thumb pressure pushing down and sliding downward as the back indications show it released on the catches and lifted off.

New batteries! But good luck getting the back off the remote.
